Hello,

Normally you can separate the door panels without removing the door. I've included a diagram from a Sharp model that might help, because they have the procedure

If you do have to remove the door, you have to be sure you reinstall it exactly where and how it was, or you may get microwave leakage.

You should definitely mark the locations of all the hardware before disassembly.

    Hello.
Also note that you follow the below steps.

  • Shut off the power to your oven at the home's circuit breaker box. If you have a gas oven, close the gas shut-off valve.

  • Step 2Take off the old door, if applicable to your oven. Skip this step if this is a new installation. Lower the door until it is all the way open. Open the hinge locks with a flathead screwdriver to release the door. If you have a self-cleaning oven, remove the metal clamps or brackets that hold the hinges in place with a Phillips screwdriver. Close the door partially until it is in the "broil" position. With a firm hold on each side of the door, lift up and slide the door off of the oven's hinge arms.

  • Step 3Hold up the new door and match up the slots on the door with the hinge arms on the oven. Place the door onto the hinge arms and lower the door until it is all the way open. Use your flathead screwdriver to move the hinge locks back to the locked position. Replace any brackets or clamps that were removed in Step 2 if you have a self-cleaning oven.

  • Step 4Make sure the door fits properly by opening and shutting it a few times. Pay attention to any points where the door seems to grab or catch on something. Lift the door off and re-install it if you notice any problems.

  • Step 5Switch the circuit breaker for your oven back on and turn on the gas supply, if necessary.

  • Hope this helpout........

I think the problem is just coincidental to the lamp replacement.

i would say there is grease or food debris on the turntable support or turntable motor coupler.

The service manual is here and you can order parts from the Pros here.

You may have a problem with a door switch or door switch mount, or there may be a shorted relay on the control board, which can easily be repaired.

Either the coupler is cracked, the motor is defective, or the turntable support ("rotating ring asm") is worn or defective.

Hello, I have a 7 year old GE Advantium oven that the microwave has quit working on. The power and timer come on but the actually cooking element of the microwave is not working. When testing the oven...

I would first suspect the primary interlock (top door switch) or maybe that switch's mount is loose or broken.

Door switch or mount trouble is usually caused by slamming the door or by opening the door while it's cooking without hitting the Stop pad first.

We have the service manual and have uploaded it here to help you.

At our Web site, we have a video available showing how to remove a typical over the range control panel assembly in under 5 minutes.

If you only need a switch, you can order a universal type here for $5 postpaid.

Power Out

Common problem with the Advantium. Culprit is a thermal cut off (TCO) for the cavity. Other posts detail where it is. I ordered a replacement at the link below.
