Question about Salton RA14 14-Cup Rice Cooker

1 Answer

Can't measure the rice.

I have lost the cup used to measure the amount of rice. I would like to know how much that cup holds - 3/4 of a standard cup?

I lost the plastic measuring cup that came with my Rival RC100 rice cooker, the markings on the inside of it tell's me the water amount I just need to know how much rice the cup held.

The measuring cup you lost is equivalent to 3/4 cup or 180ml and this can make approximately 2 and 1/4 cup of cooked rice.

For more details, you can download Owner's Manual at www.rivalproducts.com ,
You can also inquire on this site about cup replacement.

Lost manual; what is ratio of rice to water? thanks!

All right, this can be a bit confusing. IF you still have the cup that came with your Rice Cooker, use it to measure your rice. Then, inside the cooker there are lines showing how much water to add based on how many of the Zojirushi measuring cups you used of rice. THAT's simple.
IF you DON'T still have your Rice Maker measuring cup you will have to use a 3/4 cup U.S measuring cup. This equals the same amount as the rice cooker cup. For each 3/4 cup of rice you use, add that many cups of water. If you use 3/4 cups of rice twice, then add water to the 2 line.
In other words, a rice cooker measuring cup equals 3/4 cup of regular U.S measuring cups.
Hope I didn't confuse this too much. I hope this helps and if it does, please let Fixya know by rating my solution. Good luck and happy cooking!

I lost the measuring cup. Can I use a regular measuring cup? If so, what amount would I use? For 1 cup, 2 cups,or 3 cups? I'm sure there is a solution. Thanks.

1 cup of rice in the rival cup does NOT equal 1 cup of rice in a regular measuring cup. I lost mine too and I've found that using 3/4 cup of a regular measuring cup works with the lines on the inside of the pot

Plastic cup lost, how much rice shall I measure?

I learned that the measure probably held 200 ml, and will experiment to confirm.

You can download the manual. The standard rice measuring cup is 180ml (one cup in the US is approximately 240ml).

Amount of Rice

The Japanese measuring cup size of 200 ml works fine for my Hitachi RD-5083 and likely will work for most rice cookers. The standard US cup is 237 ml.

Lost Cup

The measuring cup for my Rival RC100 holds 6 oz (volume of water to the top rim). The markings on the inside of the pot (1 through 5) seem to hold about 12 oz each.
(that is: the 1 line holds 12.2 oz, the 5 line held 57 ounces of water)
close enough to the standard 2 to 1 water to rice ratio.
I put in about 1.7X as much water (by volume) as brown rice, and it comes out very good for me. (1 cup rice to 1 3/4cup water).
