    Windows Vista Home Prem.
    Quickbooks Pro 2007
No error message ... "Opening Quickbooks" screen tries to open, then the Windows Installer opens. Nothing happens. Takes 2 or 3 tries to end program in Task Manager.
    This problem just started.

Thank you all for all your help. I finally was able to fix Quickbooks. I completely uninstalled the program, renamed folders, cleaned my registry, ran the MS Installter CleanUp Utility (not necessarily in that order, but too tired now to figure that out..hee...hee.)
Quickbboks is now working, updated and working files have been restored.
Again thanks to all for the help.

What operating system are you using and which quickbook version are you using? are you getting an error message when opening quickbook?

  • Anonymous Apr 19, 2008

After QuickBooks has been uninstalled, rename the QuickBooks installation folder:

Right-click the Microsoft Windows Start button and click Explore.

Navigate to the QuickBooks installation folder.

Note: The default installation folder is C:\Program Files\Intuit\.

Right-click the QuickBooks 2006 (or QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions 6.0) folder, and then click Rename.

Rename the folder to QuickBooks Old, and then click Enter.

Insert the QuickBooks installation CD and install QuickBooks normally.

After successfully reinstalling the program, restart your computer.

    Open QuickBooks.

From the QuickBooks Help menu, click Update QuickBooks.

In the Update QuickBooks window, click Update Now.

Once the update is complete, exit and re-open QuickBooks.

Click Yes when prompted to install the update.

If you receive an error while trying to uninstall or reinstall
QuickBooks and cannot complete the process, please follow these steps:

Click the Microsoft Windows Start button and click Control Panel. (You
may need to select Settings before seeing the Control Panel option.)

In the Control Panel window, click Add or Remove Programs.

In the Add or Remove Programs window, scroll down the list of Currently
installed programs to see if Windows Installer 3.1 is installed on the
    computer.

If Windows Installer 3.1 is not installed, please visit the Microsoft
Help and Support site for instructions on how to download and install
this program. Please note that this is a Microsoft product. Intuit
cannot provide support for third-party products.

When you have Windows Installer 3. installed on the computer, try
uninstalling QuickBooks and installing it to a new folder again.

If Windows Installer 3.1 is already installed on your machine, or if
the steps above do not resolve the issue, you may need to download the
Microsoft Windows Installer CleanUp Utility from the Microsoft Support
site before you can reinstall QuickBooks.

Please see Microsoft Knowledge Base article 290301 to download and read
about the Microsoft Installer CleanUp Utility. Please note that this is
a Microsoft product. Intuit cannot provide support for third-party
    products.

Hmmm...you may need to remove that application. Is it backed up? You also could be suffering from applications extension fatique, through your virus protection software. Turn them all off, and try it again.

  • Anonymous Apr 19, 2008

you may have a virus control issue(sounds like it) did you turn off the virus protections? go offline, if you have to

  • Anonymous Apr 20, 2008

you should have given the money to Basti, since that's where your support came from, no?

I am installing quickbooks 2011 Pro and keep getting Error code 3371 status code 1

The 3371 error means that the software couldn't read the license information. possibly due to an incomplete install. You need to reenter the license; you may need to do a full uninstall and reinstall. Have the license available before starting.

First try just deleting the license file:
Close Quickbooks if it is open. Depending on your OS, search for the hidden folder with the license file and delete EntitlementDataStore.ecml . (You may need to enable viewing of the hidden folders. This is accessed via the File Explorer. Double click the Computer (My Computer in XP) icon (or Start > Control Panel > Computer) to open the explorer. Click on Organize and go to the Folders and search options. In the View tab, select Show hidden folders.) For Windows Vista or Win 7, search for C:\ProgramData\Intuit\Entitlement Client\v6.0 . In XP, you need the folder C:\Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Intuit\Entitlement Client\v6.0 . Just select the file and choose delete then confirm the delete command. Launch Quickbooks and follow the on-screen directions for registering the program.

The MSXML 4 software may be damaged or missing. This program is on the CD; however it may be better to download it from Microsoft, http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=7F6C0CB4-7A5E-4790-A7CF-9E139E6819C0&displaylang=en . Try to repair the software with the command msiexec.exe /fvaum "%userprofile%\desktop\msxml.msi" (then press enter) with the above file saved to the Desktop. (Click Start or Start > Run, depending on the OS.)

If the repair doesn't work because the program isn't installed, install with the downloaded file. Otherwise uninstall it (Start > Control Panel > Programs > Uninstall) and then reinstall first the MSXML 4 and then Quickbooks.

If the above step doesn't work, then you need to uninstall Quickbooks completely. First uninstall Quickbooks from the Uninstall Wizard mentioned above. Then run the Clean Install Utility from Intuit, https://www.quickbase.com/up/bd9yykidd/g/r9/eg/va/QuickBooks%20Clean%20Install%20Utility.exe , to remove any information from the program that was left after uninstalling. Reinstall Quickbooks after clicking OK when the program says Quickbooks is ready for a clean install.

You could manually rename the installation files instead of using the Clean Install Utility but that would clutter your hard drive.

I hope this helps. Let me know if you need any help; if you do, please add a comment with your OS.

Error message " quickbooks has encountered a problem "

1. Do you have a backup of your quickbooks from before this started happening? If yes, try opening the backed up quickbooks file.

2. Uninstall Quickbooks 2009 completely, then reinstall it and check of updates and install all of them, then try it again.

If the problem persists, please let me know so I can continue to help you. These are the first two things to try and would be the easiest solution.

I can not install OfficeSuite. I have Windows Vista home Premium. I had downloaded updates all afternoon and it still shows error 1719 Window installer not correctly installed. Help!

Download:Windows Vista Service Pack 1

I tried personally in WIN-XP worked same applies to Vista.

Error Message:
Error 1719. The Windows Installer Service could not be accessed. You may be running in safe mode or Windows Installer may not be correctly installed. Translation:
This message might appear when you’re trying to add or remove a program that installs via a Windows Installer MSI (Microsoft Software Installation) package file. The Windows Installer Service is the standard method for installing and uninstalling software on Windows XP. It keeps track of all of the components that need to be installed for a particular program to run and ensures that any files that are shared by programs are not removed when one of those programs is uninstalled. The Error 1719 is an indication that some Windows Installer Service files are missing or have become damaged. Solution:
The first thing to try is re-registering Windows Installer in the Windows registry. Make sure that no other programs are running and then click Start, Run, type msiexec /unregister in the Open field, and click OK. Next, click Start, Run, type misexec /regserver in the Open field, and click OK. Restart your computer and try installing or uninstalling again.

If you’re still getting the error message, the next step is to try reinstalling the Windows Installer files. In order to do this, you’ll first need to rename the existing files.

First, click Start, Run, and type msiexec /unregister in the Open field, and click OK.

In My Computer, click Search and locate the following three files: msi.dll, msiexec.exe, and msihnd.dll. They are hidden files so you’ll need to select Search Hidden Files And Folders under More Advanced Options. When you’ve found the files, rename them, by removing the .dll and .exe extensions and replacing them with an .old extension(for example msi.dll becomes msi.old).

Once you’ve renamed the files, WinXP will automatically replace them with a new copy from the dllcache (a hidden folder where copies of important system files are kept in case you mistakenly delete or rename critical system files). Restart your computer and try to install or uninstall the program again.

Finally, if neither of the above processes corrects the problem, boot into Safe Mode, and go through the above steps again, first re-registering and then reinstalling.
