Question about NewAir AC-12000E Portable Air Conditioner

1 Answer

I just received this air conditioner. Set it up

I just received this air conditioner. Set it up as described. Turned it on. The compressor goes on, but the air conditioner does not cool. The display shows 85 degrees and that is the temperature in the room. when I hit the button to decrease the temperature setting the new setting flashes for a short time and then the display goes back to 85 degrees and it does not cool. Any suggestions?

It sounds like you have a faulty unit, that has a bad built in thermostat. I'd suggest sending the unit back for a replacement, or get a refund, & buy another unit. What you may think is the compressor kicking in, might just be the blower fan. Try raising the temperture as high as it will go, & see if you hear a noise change to quieter. If it does get quieter then the compressor was in & is not working properly. Send it back.

My frigidaire AC starts cooling fine but stops blowing cold air after few minutes and it does not cool at all. I haved turned it off and re-started it and it does the same thing

The compressor is being prematurely turned off. That explains why the cooling stops after a few moments. Either the thermostat is responsible or the electronics working with the therm are responsible for the anomaly.

Freon level is fine because it does cool when compressor is running. U might also want to check the start/run capacitor. That sucker starts the motor and keeps it running after the start. If the run section goes bad the motor will usually stop after it starts.

The compressor is running but not cooling.

Try the following to begin operating the air conditioner: 1. Plug in the air conditioner. (To prevent electrical hazards, do not use an extension cord or an adapter plug.) 2. Set the exhaust vent to the CLOSED position. 3. Press “On/Off” button to turn unit on. 5. Press Mode “COOL” 6. Press “TEMP/TIME” up or down V to the desired set temperature. Review the “Air Conditioner Features” section for other settings

Car makes a loud sound when the air conditioner is on it does not work the one turned off the loud sound goes away

A/C Compressor is bad. You will need to change the A/C compressor and Receiver Dryer to repair this function. Have the system checked for leaks first. Most Asian cars use DENSO and most European makes, Behr-Hella parts. Do not run the A/C compressor further until you get the system checked.

Coleman rooftop air conditioner - Unit's fan works well, but when turned to A/C, the compressor short cycles: 2-3 sec on, then off for 15 sec, then on / off again. The compressor gets pretty hot...

It could very well be the capacitor which I would check first because it is a cheap fix. If the capacitor looks pregnant or swollen it could be shorted. You can check it with an ohm meter if you have one. Disconnect the capacitor, writing down where the wires go. Set the ohm meter on the highest ohm setting, and touch the leads to both sides of the capacitor. If the needle goes up and then bleeds back down, the capacitor is good. If the need goes up and stays up, the cap is shorted. If it doesn't move at all, the cap is open. Either shorted or open, it needs to be changed.
Worst case could be that the compressor is "locking up" or the piston is swollen and will not pump but for a few seconds before is seizes. This would mean a bad compressor. Hope this helps.

The air conditioner blows warm air the air compressor appears to be working when the air conditioner switch is turned on the unit is full of freon but the unit will not cool. I was trying to see if it...

First off, does your A/C engage the electro magnetic clutch on the compressor? Is your climate control all set to A/C function? Do you hear or see the radiator fan blowing at a high rate when switch is engaged? Do you see a constant flow of freon at the sight glass by the receiver dryer (little bubbles are fine)? This are just the basic visual test that a auto tech goes through so this might give you a gen idea of what to do easily on your own.
