Question about Kodak ESP 5 Printer

I have a MacBook Pro connected via USB to a Kodak ESP 5 A-I-O. I've been having problems getting the scan function to work at all. So I upgraded the ESP 5 firmware & drivers to the latest available for MAC OS 10. Now the scan function starts up but as soon as I select "Save" on my MAC I get the following message "Scan Error: An error occurred while communicating with the scanner." No diagnostic, no help, not much of an error message. The USB connection is fine because printing & photo uploads work OK. I'd appreciate your help. Thank you !

    First of all do you know anything about the MAC OS10 drivers for the Kodak ESP 5 AIO? If you don't, please don't read any further. I had already done everything your previous expert suggested before I contacted him. I need a deeper understanding of the problem.

Hi. To make sure that the product hardware is functioning correctly, use the product to make a photocopy. If you cannot make a copy, this solution will not help resolve the issue.

Solution 1:
Follow these steps to restart the product and the computer. NOTE: Make sure that the product connects directly to an electrical outlet and not through a surge protector or power strip.

  1. Shut down the computer.
  2. Press the Power button to turn off the product.
  3. Wait 10 seconds.
  4. Restart the computer.
  5. Press the Power button to turn the product back on.
  6. Try the scan again
Solution 2

1. Replace the USB cable.
2 .Try the scan again.

Solution 3
Fully uninstall and resintall the software and driver of Kodak printer

Workaround:

Try installing the printer to Windows XP environment just to prove functionality and test incompatibility issues. Might be your printer is icompatible with MAC OS. This will also prove if printer is working or not.

My Kodak ESP 3 Won't Scan


Did you install the full software driver for the all-in-one? The drivers are here: http://www.kodak.com/global/mul/service/downloads/DownloadLookup.jhtml?pq-path=9103/12666/12667&product=EKN034524

Next try a new USB cable and plugging the unit into a different port. If you use a print server or USB hub, try connecting directly to the computer. Scanners need bi-directional communication with the computer and thus are likely to have issues even if the printer doesn't.

Can the scanning software on the computer initiate the scan? (That is in the full software package. Alternatively Vista came with Paint and File> Import from Camera or Scanner > New Scan.)

Kodak ESP 7 WIFI problems


The ACTIONTEC GT124, M1000 and PK5000 Routers are not compatible with wireless-enabled all-in-one printers. These routers cannot connect to your all-in-one printer because they do not support the multicast protocol. Contact your router supplier for additional assistance and to determine if your router will be able to support the muticast protocol in the future.

Kodak esp 5 won't scan


call kodak @ 1800 421 6699. This step involves advanced troubleshooting and is related with the scanner drivers of the Printers. Kodak telephone support will take care of the issue.

Make sure that the printer is connected to your computer and you have the home center software installed on your system. Try to install the latest version of Printer software from www.kodak.com/go/downloads on your computer. then open the kodak home center software and click on scan pictures. Adjust the settings and you are ready to go. download the user manual from www.kodak.com/go/manuals.

When i press scan the display shows 'scanning' nothing happens - the printer works and is connected... kodak esp 5


connect ur printer with ur computer thru a usb cable and then try to scan a document from computer using home center software. u will be able to scan the document or picture.

go to kodak.com/go/itg and diagnose ur issue. upgrade firmware of the printer and u have to clean printhead after taking out ink cartridges and printhead .issue will be resolved

Here is the solution I found on the Kodak ESP 5 Support Center web page. Hope it helps or else maybe just visit the web page and browse it to see if you can find the solution to your specific problem.

Question : How do I scan from my all-in-one printer using MICROSOFT WINDOWS Imaging Acquisition (WIA) Drivers on a computer running WINDOWS VISTA Operating System? Answer : For computers running WINDOWS VISTA Operating System:
  1. Click Start > Programs/All Programs, and select Windows Photo Gallery.
  2. Click Scan at the bottom of the Windows Photo Gallery window, then click New Scan at the top of the window.
  3. Select KODAK ???? AiO (where ???? is the model number) from the Select Device window, then click OK.
  4. Click Preview and make whatever adjustments needed to achieve the desired scan.
  5. When you have made the desired adjustments, click Scan.
    During scanning, the progress is displayed.
    When the scan is complete, the file is displayed in the Windows Fax and Scan window, along with a preview of the file.
  6. Click Save as... to save the file, or click the Print icon to print the file from the Windows Fax and Scan application.

Kodak AiO home center software


I persisted in finding a solution with the help of Kodak but the solution was that the scanner was flawed and the printer is being replaced - AGAIN.  The first tech I talked with was clueless and absolutely no help.  The second person went through some steps with me and determined, once again, there is a flaw in the printer -- the 3rd replacement.  The first printer had a print-head problem out of the box, so it was returned to the store & exchanged for another.  The replacement worked for some 3 months without a hitch and then stopped working - just would not print, but the scanner worked.  So I just rec'd my Kodak ESP-3 number 3 on Tuesday this week.  Printer worked, scanner didn't.  Now I am waiting for my 4th replacement.  It is ridiculous, but when it does work, it is a nice little printer -- quality of photo printing is great, and you can't beat the cost of the ink refills. And so it goes.
