Question about GE Profile JTP18 Electric Single Oven

Self-clean not cleaning

I have a 10 year old GE profile radiant slide-in electric range.  Both the broiler and baking elements work, but self-clean is not cleaning.   the Self clean function responds as usual, locks the door and counts down 4 hours, but never gets hot enough to clean the oven.  The appliance repairman saidthat " selfclean" is just a combo of baking and broiling simultaneously at very hi heat. "You burnt out your baking element so I'll replace it",  Well, the baking element works, as it did before, and the self clean still does not.  the baking element cycled on and off during the self clean. If it's not hot enough, why would it cycle off?

I was wrong (I think).  the baking element probably was burnt out as the repairman said.  He replaced it and I thought selfclean still wasn't working.  In fact, I think I just had to give the self-clean function more time.  Also, I was judging by smell.  We have become used to a bad odor during self clean which was missing when it was broken and still missing after the repair.  Bottom line, the oven was clean after the baking element was replaced, sans smell.

Broiler wont light everything else works..model ffgf3023lwa

Hi Chris Stewart - If the bake element and the top of the range works, but just not the heating element, then you possibly have a bad broiler element or connection. However, if you are experiencing other performance difficulties, then the control board may possibly be faulty and needs replacing. Consult a professional for an accurate diagnosis.

Sounds like you have a bad or loose wire on the element plug. If you could post the model number of the unit I will see if I have the service manual for your range.

Lower heating element in oven does not work

so this unit is electric? does the broiler work? if the answer is yes , the broiler does work...more than likely you need a bake element. Do you have a multimeter? you can also check to see if you have 240 volts going to the element when you turn it on if you have voltage your problem is 100 percent a bake element that has gone bad.

check the bake (lower) element, mine just went out. It was easy to spot the problem once I pulled the element out, the wire had burnt off the end. Please remember to turn the power off first.

Self Clean cycle on Hotpoint Gas range doesn't work

We see a symptom like this due to a failure in the control board. Although it usually also affects bake mode. Another cause could be a problem with the door lock as it must be engaged (by the controller) to initiate self-clean.

If this doesn't help, you can either post the full model number or email me at bruce@fixyourboard.com and we can dig deeper.

Bottom oven doesn't heat after running self-clean cycle

Usually, when an oven won't heat, it's because the bake element is burned out. The bake element is the black, pencil- thick tube at the bottom of the oven. When the oven heats, the element glows red. This element has an expected life-span of several years. It may last for only one; it may last for many more. When the element burns out, you need to replace it.

Get me the exact model number and I'll provide you a part number and the correct pricing info. That's way out of line, that part is probably less than $130.00 and is easy to replace yourself.

a try to get your WB44X200 bake element. (Yes, 30 + years,..... had to go bad into the microfische to find that part number) Part is still available and is rather easy to change yourself.
