Hello,

It may be you did not get the good pressure relief valve when you replace the other time. You will need to replace the pressure valve again if not it will affect the operation of the polaris.

To get the original pressure relief valve, order for tour pressure relief valve at this website. www.thefind.com/garden/info-replace-pressure-relief-valve -

It sounds like the water could be getting over heated. Has the temperature of the hot water out of a tap gone way up? (a meat thermometer should be in the right range to measure this by flowing just hot water into a container and measuring the temperature of the water in it.) Be very careful, it sounds like it could well be very very hot. Check the heating element and the thermostat. In case if you notice any water coming out of pressure relief valve then its faulty or loose valve. 2 possibilities To much pressure and its causing the relief valve to open in compensation The valve is defective and needs to be replaced. If the valve checked out faulty or cracked.IT has to be replaced.Cost of new valve is near to $7.Click this link to buy the valve. http://www.bestbuypoolsupply.com/polaris-380-parts.html
Thanks. Keep updated for any more query. You can rate this solution and show your appreciation.

Have had my current Polaris 380 for around 6 years. Nothing has changed...but suddenly the cast to my backup valve split 3/4ths of the way around above the threads. Replaced with backup valve from...

It is likely a coincidence but you may have a restriction of the water downstream from the device. This would cause a higher pressure and might therefore add to the stress on the backup device. Regardless of the cause you still need to new backup valve or a new part to replace the part that split. They are not hard to replace if you can get it apart.

If you have trouble getting it apart you can bring it down to Leslies Pool Supplies and they can put it back in order for just the price of parts.

I hope this helps.

I think it is a coincidence. On the other hand, there could be a restriction downstream causing the pressure to be too high. I would check for this but either way you will need to buy a new one. I hope this helps.

380 does not move, belts are ok

There are a lot of moving parts in these cleaners. They are simple if your familiar with them, but can be overwhelming if your not used to working on them. First of all make sure your pressure is good. pressure line could be clogged, pump impeller clogged, or inline filter (if there is one) can get clogged. Assuming pressure is ok, if you take the cleaner apart, there are bearings, and gears that can bind up if they're worn out. Also if the wheels and wheel mounts are worn the wheels can rub and effect the performance. This alone shouldn't stop it, but in combination with other worn parts it can. Obviously the belts worn out, broken, or if they're off will stop the cleaner but you said they are ok. There area number of small houses and slip ties that hold them inside the cleaner that distribute water where needed if the are broken come off, or leaking, that can stop the cleaner as well. How old is your cleaner? if it's more than a couple years (maybe even a year) there are several parts that can wear and need replacement. If the above information doesn't get you back on track. I suggest you take the cleaner into a local pool shop. They will be familiar with it, should inspect it and replace any parts you buy for free.

Having problem with polaris 380 not moving. just replaced back-up valve and having a different problem. there are three small devise on hose that are spraying water.

If the wheels are spinning independently you have broken drive belts. The hose swivels are leaking also which could lower the pressure to the head.

380 unit floats to the top, doesn't move around pool

Check the following three things. One of these should correct the problem you are having with your automatic pool cleaner.

1. Confirm that the blue
restrictor disk is installed in
the UWF to decrease water
flow. Or, install the red
restrictor disk to decrease
water flow even more.

2. Check the wheel RPM. If
more than 32 RPM, unscrew
the pressure relief valve to
decrease water flow
to cleaner. Note: The
pressure relief valve should
only be adjusted when a
restrictor is installed.

3. Verify the back-up valve is
cycling. Hold the valve out of
the water and watch the jet.
It should come on and go off.
