How do I burn files to a disk to play in DVP3140

I'm assuming you're using a recent-build Windows PC. Here's the link from Microsoft: http://windows.microsoft.com/en-us/windows-vista/burn-a-cd-or-dvd-in-windows-media-player. Media player must be recent enough in version to burn disk media--otherwise, you must obtain a software product that will burn media for you. Your PC must also be equipped with a CD, DVD, or Blu-Ray burner. CD-R disks easily prove available from discount stores, music stores, electronics stores, or online.

As for compatibility, Phillips indicates that CD-R is compatible. I hope that you don't have a problem. That depends upon the media manufacturer and how its product interacts with the Phillips. Compatibility likely won't prove a problem. Certainly, check that out before the next trip....

It's not reading cd, or DVD

Check for scratches on the disk surface - these can inhibit the player from reading a disk correctly.

Some players will read olny certain type(s) of disks. This is an issue mostly for disks created on a computer, not those that are prerecorded and available for purchase or rental that contain movies and music.

As stated above, dIsks created on a home computer may not always be readable on a home player. Re-writeable and recordable types that are not listed as being compatible will not work. Check your manual to see which types are acceptable and not. DVD types are: DVD-R, DVD-RW, DVD+R, DVD+RW and DVD-RAM CD Types are CD-R, CD+R and CR-RW. Older home CD and DVD players generally work with "-R" types and the newer players with both "-R" & "+R" types. "-RW" and "-RAM" types are the least likely to be readable in home players.

Additionally, most players require that disks created on a home computer be "finalized". This is an extra step that isn't required by most CD / DVD drives in computers. Just because it works in your computer doesn't mean it will work in your home player. If you're using compatible media and still not able to read disks, check your CD / DVD recording software options to enable finalization.

Good luck!

New computer has windows 7. When I try to use Word Whomp disk it tells me it is not compatible. Is there a patch I can get?

I can't seem to find a patch but try right clicking on the program, going to properties -> compatibility and running it in XP or Win 98 compatibility mode.

There is actually an online flash version:

I want to stall the window xp3 how i do that

First try getting your hands on an install disk. i would suggest first that you look your computer up online to make sure it is compatible with xp. after that simply start your computer up and hold either F12 or F2 to enter setup, from there (with the disk in the computer) set the boot order so that it boots from the disk, after hit save changes and exit and follow the instructions on the disk to install windows xp

Want to try to utilize an old sony Vaio PCG-F520

OK you can certainly add wireless to this machine. But be careful which type you buy. If this machine has windows 98 you have to ensure the wireless adaptor will be compatible. . you have two choices for the adepter type either USB or PCMCIA (aka PC Card) I'd go for the PCMCIA version, it will be more likely to play well with the older system. Also, Dont buy a MIMO card, a simple 802.11B or 802.11G compatible card will work. these are in the sub $40 price.

Dont attempt to install XP or VIsta on this PC, it will be unbearably slow. Stick with 98 or better yet windows 2000.

-Good Luck
