Are you installing a new element or do you need to get a new one make sure you get an element gasket as well. Element is on right side of machine. Drain water 14mm plug under boiler. There are 4 wires on element two labeled 3, and one labeled 1, the other labeled 2. Element has 4 coils in two loops, top loop and bottom loop. 1 on top loop 2 on bottom loop the 3's on the other side.

Can not get water hot in water tank ,put in new heating element, did not help

Thermostat is what turns that heating element on and off so what ever the element is attatched to is your thermostat and that is what is bad, unless they use a thermister and that is on the board and unless you know electronics ,.,.,.. You can take it to an appliance place if you dont feel comfortable and you will have a warranty with the fix as well.

Our rancillo silvia does not heat up water or make steam. the power light shows on.

Sounds like the heating element is fried, you will need to find a local person who understands basic electrical troubleshooting with a meter. Take the top off and have somebody meter voltage across the heating element electrodes if there is voltage ther,e but the machine is cold, your heating element positively absolutely has gone bye bye. you are correct ? i hope the heating element must work to boil water through the machine and check for the thermal fuse hidden with in the in line cord inside the machine. check all with test meter on continuity selection for electrical flow. thermal fuse got too hot and save the machine ,but the element is not on ! thermal fuses are not resettable ..and have to purchase them at your local Radio Shack 8-10amp rating in cases. and about $ 8.00 us each >^.^< good luck, let us know ?

almost certaintly a blown internal fuse, take apart and check, unplugged! you'll need a mutimeter to check the fuse, should be a very low ohm reading if its intact, and off the the scale or unreadable if blown. simple fix, to replace the fuse, available at electrical wholesale shops (take the old with you). of course the element inside may have blown and caused the fault in the first place(or something else inside, e.g. a short in the electronics) and a new fuse will just blow again. a simple way to test an element is to test its resistance across its 2 terminals. no resistance equals bad, off the scale resistance also equals bad. if you're diligent the reading should equal- power equals voltage squared divided by resistance.
good luck!

I have a hamilton beach brew station, and the coffee won't get hot. Any suggestion?

There is a Thermal Protector Fuse at one end of the brewing element that overheats and is designed to fail(Either at 128C, 140C, or 228C).

It is likely that one of these is the culprit.

Some coffee makers have 2 different ones. The part costs about $1.70 at a local electronics supply or online. Taking apart the coffee maker is a chore, but can be done if patient. The fuse must be soldered back in place carefully. Getting it too hot will ruin the new one. If you have no technical background, I wouldn't suggest trying to fix it yourself.

Alternatively:

If the coffee maker is less than 2 years old, you can call Hamilton Beach and they will give you instructions on how to RMA your coffee maker. You need to give them the code # on the bottom of the unit. They will request that you cut off just the plug and send it to them with a check for return shipping costs.

I have had the same thing happen to TWO of mine.

The part costs about $1.70 at a local electronics supply or online. Taking apart the coffee maker is a chore, but can be done if patient. The fuse must be soldered back in place carefully. The latter is much easier.

I'm going to presume that your brewer is a VPS series pour-over brewer. This problem can be caused by several things, so I'll list the most common ones.
1) The on/off switch for the lower warmer could be burnt out. This switch also operates the heating element.
2) The high limit thermostat quite offen blows on the older VPS brewers. this is a small unit held down to the top of the tank and has 2 wires voming to it.
3) Look for burnt-off wires. These models sometimes burn off wires on the top of the heating element.
4) If none of these work, then your problem will be your heating element itself.
Parts for these models are readily available from your local Bunn repair shop.
