Question about Echo Garden

1 Answer

Echo brushcutter won't start. Its a SRM5000, about six years old, and in regular use. Started & ran fine yesterday. Today - dead. Checked spark at the plug, fuel at the carb - both OK. Stripped the carb - it was clean internally. Took the exhaust off, & engine ran. Flushed exhaust out with paraffin & then burnt it - no gunk came out, and the exhaust seems clear when I blow through it. Engine still won't start with the exhaust fitted. What do I try next?

It could be an air/petrol mix that is wrong that would explain why it works with exhaust off

Volvo Won't Start

Replace your spark plugs and spark plug wires. This will probably fix your problem. Be sure and check your firing order in case one or more plug wires are hooked up wrong. This sounds like it might be your problem.

try a jump start off of a similar battery with the same voltage. If that does not work, there is a chance your ignition wire is not wired into the throttle anymore. try reconnecting it.

Battery is new, engine won't turn over.

The voltmeter should only go as high as 14-15 volts when the engine is running. I would check for a poor connection between the battery and starter.

Engine starts and runs a few seconds and quits

It sounds like your carburetor needs cleaned. If you started it for the first time without emptying the old gas, you may have had dirt particle's that had settled at the bottom of the tank. This would explain why it had ran the day before. If you need further assistance on how to clean the carb., just let me know.
