Plasma display suddenly dimming down is usually symptom of a faulty sustain board. Sustain boards and other parts like the PSU must be tested before replacing any component.

If the unit completely turns off than there is an issue with it, if the screen dims but the unit is still running it may be in your display settings that you have it to automatically dim backlight to save power.

it sounds like your backlight is going out your best option would be to buy a new screen which would udually run u 4m 60-150$ and thats excluding labor

How dim is dim? If the picture is still visible just like half as bright then your have backlight tube problem and unit LCD needs to be replaced, not worth repair price. If the picture goes out almost to a black screen where you can just bairly see a faint image then you hold the screen just right then you have a backlight inverter issue. If the problem is the inverter then you should be able to replace a few parts and get your unit back going. If you think you can open the unit up and maybe solder a few parts then I would open the case and look for bad capacitors on the power supply board. I can send you pictures of what to look for if you are interested. We also have a repair service for those units, most power issues run $15.00 plus shipping. Let me know if you need help opening the unit and checking parts.

If you're using the battery, change the power saving settings.

I assume you are running it under normal power supply (mains)?
Try checking your display settings, they may be set st a lower brightness level. As you switch on the computer it is taking a few seconds to catch up and dim down once the settings kick in.

bad video, possiblem, but if the battery is low needs a recharge, to see if problem persists remove battery and run soley on home power.

Step 1: Go to preferences
Step 2: Go to power
Step 3: Change the Auto-off after: feature and increase it to 3 minutes, the maximum.

I know this will only help it a lil from the 1 minute you had before, but if you pres the volume button or something within the 3 minutes it will restart the 3 minutes.
