Question about Creative Labs ZEN Vision:M Digital Media Player

1 Answer

Not recognisin my creative zen vision m has been working fine but just recently the pc has started to not recognise it when i plug it in - it doesn't even charge up.. Instead of the usual noise when it is plugged in the computer sounds 2 'notes' - both the same instead of the usual second note higher than the other. when the zen is disconnected it makes th usual noise of disconnecting. I have tried different usb ports and other usb devices work fine. I have just had a new motherboard installed so it may be that... please help thanks

I have the same exact problem and it is very frustrating. For almost a year now i havent been able to add or take off any new music. I tried un-installing and re-installing the creative software, i have tried it on different computers, i have even tried buying a new cord, but nothing has worked. help me please!

I had the same problem. Then I let the battery run down to zero and it wouldn't charge anymore. I think there are serious issues with the Creative Zen Vision: M's hard drive, but everyone can admit when it works it's a damn fine machiene. You can use your Zen in this state for a while but it you let your battery run out it is very hard to get it to work again.

Because I think this is a hardware problem I suggest upgrading to the new creative zen. Eh I'm thinking of doing it. Same programs has a radio, a mike, plays videos ect. But it flash instead of hard drive based. In the US you can get it as big as 32Gb where as in Australia 16Gb is the biggest.
Pretty huge for flash. And its a lot more slim then the Vision, with the same screen.

Hell if I'm gonna buy an iPod.

We have a strange Zen Vision M recognition problem too. Daughter No. 1 had a Zen and loved it. Everything worked fine. Daughter No. 2 got one for Christmas, and when we docked it to our PC, it no longer recognizes the first Zen. We have uninstalled and installed software several times, but the computer will not recognize the first Zen player. Re-boot is the best lame suggestion Creative tech support can suggest.

I've downloaded many files to fix the problem, but it still doesn't work. I've also tried unstalling and re-installing it.

    Hi

I finally managed to fix my problem hope this helps although i cant remember exactly what i did!:

1.Right click on my computer on the start menu

    2. Select Properties

    3. Select Hardware at the top menu

    4. select Device Manager

5.The creative zen will have a yellow exclamation mark by it if it was the same problem as mine

    6. Right click the zen icon

&. then i think it was something like 'update drivers' but try other options if this doesn't work. -You may need to have the software disc in the cd rom drive for this to work.

HOPE THIS HELPS YOU! IT HELPED ME!!!

Suddenly my creative zen vision m 30GB turned off and will not power back on. It will not enter recovery mode or respond to being plugged in. any ideas of whats wrong, and is there a way i can fix it?

have you tried to plug into AC yet? once mine simply refused to turn back on after a nice freeze, the reset hole did not work, and Pc did not recognised the player. It only entered recovery mode (automatically) when I used the AC charger as a last resort. if the recovery screen comes up, select reboot...

My PC can't seem to recognise my Creative Zen Vision M 30gb anymore. It has been working fine but today nothing doing. The display on the device says it is docking when I plug into PC but PC says it is not...

What you have to reset is the PC, not the Zen.

Try unplugging the PC AC cord for ten-fifteen minutes. This will drain power and get rid of electrostatic charges accumulating on USB connector contacts.

If that does not work, check USB status in device manager, and test the Zen with a different cable. Also test the unit on a different computer.

Creative zen won't turn on

had same prob to the T...found this post and it fixed it...it's the computer not the zen...once I did the two steps my zen started charging and turned on...go figure...the flashing blue light doesn't mean it is charging.

If you have windows set to do automatic updates, you most likely had a windows update installed that caused this conflict with Win Media Player 11. No fix has been posted by Microsoft yet, so the only workaround is to Uninstall/Rollback Windows Media Player 11. Goto <Control Panel<Add/Remove Programs and remove Windows Media Player 11. Follow prompts, restart computer when prompted to. Also uninstall Windows Media Player 11 Runtime application following same procedure above.
This will roll your Windows Media Player back to version 10 or 9, whichever you had installed prior to version 11. You will need to re-configure Windows Media Player again.

Your Zen should now be recognized by WMP and Creative software. You probably need to upgrade your firmware at this point, follow the instructions on upgrading your firmware, and you should be good to go.

This is a windows problem, not a creative problem. Dont blame Creative for the screwed up hotfixes that Microsoft puts out on a regular basi

If your Zen V is dead, wont respond to anything, try this, plug it in to the computer, hold the power switch in the on position, THEN trigger the reset button, worked like a charm for mine, I had thought it a lost cause."

Creative Zen Vision M - unable to connect to ANY PC or Xbox

How to make Creative vision m, find the computer.

Connect your creative with U. S. B. cable.
Go to my computer, click on right button on mouse go to properties, click on hardware tab, click on device manager button , scrawled to creative logo press on right button on mouse and press on update drives. This worked for me on both of my computers now I can charge my creative and transfer of the files to it with no problems.

Good luck.

Zen Vision

It could be anything. Check the firmware on the device? Is it a 1.xx.xx or a 2.xx.xx? What version of Windows do you use? Do you have Windows Service Pack 2? Etc? It really could be anything.
