Except for the Headphone jack (mini-jack) and the coax audio, all of the audio jacks are audio IN. Which jack do you have your speakers connected to? The headphone jack is on the side next to the coax connection (ANT) and the coax audio out is at the bottom of that set of side jacks. The headphone mode should automatically cut the TV speakers. The coax audio out is set up by pressing Menu and then using the down arrow to highlight Audio. Then press the right arrow button to enter the submenu. Press the up or down arrow to reach SPDIF. Then you use the left and right menus to select PCM, Digital Dolby or OFF.

I hope this helps.

No suround sound from my pioneer vsxd510

You have to use the Audio Deck or something like that, a software that is provided with your sound drivers. I had VIA sound drivers & I was provided with VIA HDeck (or something like that) I used it to fill sound into the rear speakers without plugging any extra Jack (only the green one)

You can also do this, right click on the volume button on the bottom left corner. Click on Playback Devices > Speakers
click on the Configure button on the bottom left corner of the dialog.
Choose your audio configuration.
Stereo ( 2 Speakers)
Surround (more than 2 Speakers)

Hope this helps.

No sound, despite the PC saying the speakers have been configured. When I plug them into a different jack the PC tells me which the correct jack is but I get no sound - have tried all the jacks.

Go to control panel, click sounds and audio devices then a window will pop up under speaker settings will be a picture of 2 speakers. Click advanced and set it to desktop stereo speakers. Turn your computer around and plug them into the green 3.5mm sound jack. That should work if not then there is something wrong with your computer's audio driver or sound card. I would check for updates for your sound driver and that should fix it. If not i would try buying a new sound card

I have a 42 inch sanyo tv I am trying to hook up saround sound or just extra speakers

Extra speakers without having the external speaker jacks in the rear is definitely a NO NO. The surround sound is used by connecting the RCA jacks from the TV that say Audio Out to the surround sound audio input on the receiver.. The RCA cables are cheap, you can get them at Home Depot ect....

Can 2.1 pc speakers work thru headphone jacks?

No it's not possible to have a sound. Because the HDMI and the Headphone (3.5mm jack) are on two different technologies.

The monitor does not have a way to convert the sound from HDMI to Headphone.

There could be a converter that might convert the sound signal from HDMI to headphone (but I'm not sure).

Stereo Speaker troubleshooting

It sounds like the audio jack itself has internal damage. Depending on how it is mounted on your laptop case, or possibly on an internal circuit board inside the laptop; it might be possible to repair the jack or replace with a new 1/8" audio jack. Some soldering skill may be required after disassembling the laptop and getting access to the jack.

Static coming from my DELL AS500 speakers

It's the jack on the back of the PC or sound card. Sounds like some solder is loose on the jack.

The cheapest solution would likely be to just replace the sound card, if your comfortable installing them. It's really quick and pretty hard to mess up.

If it's "onboard" sound, meaning the audio jacks are built right into the mother board, you'd likely need to just replace it with a pci based sound card.

Soundcard problem on D530 SFF

Sounds like the audio return wires aren't connected. On the motherboard, there is a sound jack on the back left side of the mobo. The jacks from the front audio panel connects to it. Both the Left and Right channel have an out and an in connector. These send the signal to the headphone jack on the front panel and return the signal to the rear output jack if a headphone is not connected. Look for looe or broken wires. The other spot to check is the front headphone jack. If a headphone plug was pulled out or pulled sideways, it could break the solder joint on the PCB panel or break the shunt feeding the singal to the rear jacks. Hope this helps.
