Keeps shutting off on its own

I have a iMT620 and when using with my 3rd generation iPOD Touch it shuts itself off. I turn it back on and it plays a few minutes and shuts off again. Note - it did not do this with my former first generation iPOD

I am having the same problem. It appears to happen more on low volume does that happen to you as well? I just called Altec Lansing. Mine may be under warranty still.

Altec said it may be the pins are bent slightly. Not sure i agree. One way to test is to hook up via the auxillary port and see if it still cuts out.

iPods come in a variety of generations and models, including the nano, Classic and Touch. Depending on your model you may be able to record video, play games or watch television.
If you're unsure of your device's model, you can determine which iPod you have by using your serial number.
After determining your model, you can find out which features and capabilities your iPod has.

Go to Apple's official website (see Link Below) and click the Support tab.

The Service and Repair page will open.
Find your iPod's serial number.
This is engraved somewhere on the back of your iPod, either on the body of the device or on the clip.
You can also find it in your iPod's About screen by clicking Settings and selecting About (or General followed by About on an iPod Touch).
Enter your iPod's serial number and click the "Continue" button.
Your iPod model and generation will be displayed at the top of the screen.

The slide bar will not slide to unlock on my ipod touch 2nd generation. I've tried restarting. It holds a charge and I can play it on my docking station. I can't use it by itself.

I had the same problem with my iPod touch 3rd Generation, the slide bar will not slide to unlock. I could however use the slide to power off at the top of the screen. I tried everything from rebooting it to a full restore and nothing worked. I finally took the Touch Screen Glass Digitizer off and the ribbon cable that connects to the board had come loose. I pluged it back in and everything worked again.

It sounds like you're having a serious hardware/software issue. Have you done a restore? Try that, then if its still under warranty contact Apple for repair. If you iPod is out of warranty check out WhiteBoxService.com, they fix ipods quickly and inexpensively when they are out of warranty.

Ipod touch randomly shuts down

Hello. This is actually a very common problem with the 1st Generation 16GB Touch. It is recommended you do a system restore before these steps, but not necessary.

Step 1.
Go into Settings, and click on the General Tab
Step 2.
Set Auto-Lock to Never

This should keep it from shutting down randomly. If this does not help the problem then it is an issue with hardware.

My ipod nano third generation won't work.

try resetting your ipod by sliding the "hold' thingy back and forth once, then pressing Menu and Select at the same time(it may take a few seconds, but then the Apple logo will show up, and it should be back to normal). I hope this helps!

Ipod nano 8GB 3rd generation FROZEN!

You need to reset your ipod. Flip the hold switch on then off, then press select button and menu button at same time. Hold for 10 seconds or so. Ipod should shut off and reboot to apple screen. If this doesn't work first time try again. This should solve any stuck screen problems. Mine was stuck on pioneer screen and this operation fixed it.
