Can't get the projector to project an image from my laptop.

The lights on my toshiba projector go from red to green on startup and stay green. The light is dim but the logo is still projected on to the screen. Do I need to press the FN and F3 buttons on my laptop to trigger an image? Or doI need to do something else? My laptop is not dim but my projector is. Can you help me?

You want to enable mirroring. This basically allows you to view the image on your laptop and the projector at the same time.

here is a website explaining it:

you should try shutting down your laptop, plugging in the interface cable for the projector and then powering on the laptop. This solution works with some projectors and all HDMI computer to External video source connections. (I say all because I have yet to find a combination that this didn't work on for HDMI)

I have a Toshiba Satellite U300-13U. I cannot project from my laptop using my Optoma projector. I know how to use projectors and have necer had any problems with any other laptop. This isn't a FN/F5 issue,...

Check the video output by connecting an external monitor to the laptop. If you get a normal image on the monitor the the laptop video output is OK.
Use a different video cable between the laptop and the projector.
Maybe your laptop resolution is set too high for the projector.
This maybe a dumb question, is the projector video input set correctly?
