That is normal...just check that your pug is making a good connection and I hope you are not using and extension cord....if so make sure it is heavy enough... most are not...

Maybe it's time for a new and more energy efficient unit. Those window units are cheap, but waste plenty of energy. Try a mini split!

I have a Maytag M6Q model window a/c unit. Diplay is in degrees Celsius. How do I switch back to Fahrenheit?

On most of these Maytag units, built by the now defunct, Fedders for Maytag ... if you press the ON/OFF button and hold it for 5 seconds, it should switch back to fahrenheit.

Hope this helped you.

My remote has stopped working and I cannot change the settings on unit itself

Normally in many units there is no manual button in a/c itself. It's advisable replace with new remote and operate it.

(window a/c stopped cooling? any ideas!!

Check all of the electrical connections and check the electrical cord for any apparent damage. If no problems found in wiring or cords, look for a compressor run capacitor.......carefully mark the capacitor and the wires you pull off.......take the capacitor to the nearest Air Conditioning Supply House and have them test it for you. If it is bad, they can offer a replacement and show you how to hook it up like the other one.

Maytag M6Y12F2A Window AC Unit

The capacitor should have a MFD (or UF)rating. As long as you match these numbers you can use any brand. Try searching these numbers not the model of the unit.
