Mine does the same thing every time. It knocks and bangs and scares the dog as well as guests. Sometimes it fixes itself and sometimes not. Seems to me that there is something in the suspension that has weakened over time. Have not seen anything written about that though. Possibly the liquid in the balance ring is obstructed from moving around properly to act as a counter balance. Our floor is concrete and the machine is level. As we could operate the machine competently for a couple of years, it's doubtful that the problem is operator error!
For a couple of years it worked fine. Well, it functioned but my wife has complained from the beginning that it does not get clothes as clean as our old inefficient machine which we gave away in working order but would like to now have back. One corner of the porcelain turned yellow from the bleach fumes. The frame under the cover is rusty. When the machine goes into UL mode, it leaks.
Initially we had a problem with it ruining clothing in every load following a load of whites with bleach. It saves a few drops of bleach to deposit on our colored king bed sheets and some nice shirts. A new valve replaced under warranty remedied the problem, although it is not clear why it did so. The Whirlpool factory tech reversed the hot and cold water supply hoses. We had a couple of cold showers until I figured out what he had done.
Our whirlpool microwave quit after 5 years. We were told it needed 2 new circuit boards which cost more than the unit did when we purchased it.
I have always tried to buy American, as hard as it is. Our next appliances are going to be from Japan or Germany and not Whirlpool.

Why does it always become unbalanced in spin cycle?

how confident are you to get inside it? Check the balance springs and shock absorbers.

Normally it is two simple things.

First the machine must be level front to back and left to right. Also all 4 feet must be in equal contact with the floor.

Make sure you load the washer evenly with clothes. Mix large and small items so when the spin starts the clothes even out. Never wash just one large item that is very absorbent, like one bathrobe or one blanket..

How do I fix a front load washer that shakes violently on the last spin cycle?

CLOTHES UNBALANCED? OR COUNTER BALANCE SUPPORTS BROKEN, AND NEED REPLACMENT? WASHERS have many different weight balancers but sounds like u need to take body off and have look at the counter weights set up while running machine, just jumper the door switch to keep a closed line. and then agin sometimes its as simple as making sure ur washer is leveled on ur floor, check ur leg adjusters as they do get funny at times..

Ds codemkeeps coming up even though the door is shut

The "dc" error code indicates an unbalanced load is preventing your washer from spinning properly. Try redistributing the load, then press the Start/Pause button. If the load appears well-distributed, you may need to make adjustments to the leveling legs to make sure the washer is properly leveled, removing the clothes and running a spin only cycle to make the necessary adjustments. Once firmly leveled, be sure the plastic leg locks are tightened to prevent them from vibrating loose.

Spin cycle tub becomes unbalance

When the drum gets unbalanced more often then not, there's a few things to check:
1. Check to make sure your machine is level. Check level from side to side and also front to back. The machine has leveling feet to adjust. Make sure they are all in firm contact with the floor when leveled.
2. Wash items that are alike in material. In other words, wash towels with towels, shirts with shirts, etc. If you wash a load of shirts with a towel, it will have a tendency to get unbalanced quickly.
3. Avoid over-stuffing the machine and washing under sized loads. Both of these scenarios will cause a tendency to go out of balance on the spin.
This will solve 75-80% of unbalance issues. Let me know how it goes..

Noisy Spin Cycle

hi there,

Most noises from a washing machine occur during the spin cycle. If you hear loud thumping/or sound
during the spin, the load of clothes may have become unbalanced. Stop the washer and
redistribute the clothes, then re-start it. Repeat these steps if necessary.

No final spin

I haven't experienced that problem, but is it possible that the machine becomes unbalanced with the spinning load and then aborts the spin, so it doesn't finish? Has the machine been properly leveled during installation?
