Have you looked in disc manager, this is found by right clicking on My Computer/Manage/Disc Management.
I have had missing drives before and this usually finds them.
Sometimes changing the drive letter fixes this problem

Try inserting the pen drive into another computer to see if you can open the data on this pen drive.
If not you may need to format the pen drive.

Hi , I'm having problem with my WD 500 GB external hard drive. My laptop and computer can't recognize the drive icon anymore and no usb connection icon is recognized by windows task bar.I have tried...

click start control panel administrive tools ,computer management ,device manager look through all of your devices if you see a yellow question mark?or exclamation mark ! or red x
right click to reinstall drivers or
if you can see your usb but its not working
ports(com&lpt)right click update driver
sometimes the wires inside the cable will be damaged due to bending or stretching or placing heavy equipment upon the cable,
just replace the cable of the hard disk, when you plugged the external disk drive you got that windows could recognize the USB device change the cable everything should work fine again,

check the USB leads that attach to the motherboard usually red-white-green-black make sure they are securely seated and have no dust build up on them dust will cause static and a lot of unforeseen problems also make sure the computers Ram and Cmos battery are securely seated
if this fails to fix the problem

you might have to install a usb 2 or 3 card they are cheap and easy to install you can buy these on Ebay very cheap
hope this helps you

My hp pendrive is not recognize in usb

Try opening device manager by right clicking on my computer, and opening computer management. Then go to device manager in the left hand menu. Once you have that open, plug in your pendrive. The window should flash a couple of times. Once it has stopped flashing, you should see a device that has a caution sign on it. Right click the icon and click uninstall. Unplug your drive and plug it back in. This should solve the problem that you are having.

Dvd drive wont work

Hi

try the following

Right click My Computer / Manage / Storage / Storage Management. can you see on the right in the graphical display the DVD drive? if yes, does it have a drive letter? if no, right click on it and assign any unused drive letter. after this assignment the drive should show up again in My Computer.

If this doesn't work go in the device manager. is there a yellow exclamation mark or even a red sign beside the DVD/CD drive? if yes double click this entry. on the new window click on the "Driver" tab. click on "driver update", then follow the instructions on the screen

If still facing the issue means

Open the below site and download the driver.

4G Usb Imation Pen Drive has stopped being picked by any PC

there are two reason for ur problem
a) when windows XP fails to allocate a drive letter to your portable drive(pen drive)
b)some other technical faults in your pendrive
to solve ur problem follow these steps below

Right click on My computer icon->Select manage->Select Computer management->Select Disk Management under the storage section

-> In the right side will show you all of the current drives and partitions on your drive.

If you don’t know which is your pendrive, don’t worry, just find the drive you are looking for in the graphs at the bottom. They are usually named Disk 0, Disk 1, CD-ROM, CD-ROM1, etc.

If you’re looking for a USB flash drive, you’ll see the word “Removable” underneath Disk X -> Now right click on the icon -> Select Change drive letter and paths -> Assign a new Drive letter-> click Ok.

Now your pen drive will be detected in the computer.

there is an another way to solve ur problem

After plugging in the device. Go to device manager (In run type "devmgmt.msc") In Device manager go to "Universal serial bus controllers" It should list the storage devices that you have connected to your PC. Right click and then click "Uninstall. Remove the USB drive and restart your system.
Try connecting the device again, i think this should solve the problem.

Cd drive is not opening

Hi,

Uninstall the driver from Device Mgr, then go to registry editor, browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
On the left hand side delete the Upper and Lower filter. Restart the PC and reinstall the driver. You may also create new user account if issue continues.

DVD/CD disk drive keep rejecting

Sounds like it is not closing properly so the computer just opens it again ? if it is of the detachable type ( small release tag under computer marked with a closed or open lock icon next to release lever ) take out the drive with the door open it possible , check inside for any obstruction ( favorite place for children's random M&Ms ) if none visible check that the disk holder is below the carrige by using a small ruler place acroos the slide and see if the edges of the disc protrude above if not and you have found no foreign bodies in the drive replace the player into the machine .( I have found that occasionaly during manufacture the cariges are set a little high and as they wear they settle and they then catch on the center spindle ,gently easing the disc spindle holder down usually cures the problem .) There is I am afraid also a software glitch that causes this problem so if you have no joy with the first fix try uninstalling the drive from the Device manager and reinstalling on boot up . you do this by clicking on control panel .. then ... Device manager .. disk drives double click and the drives will appear select dvd and right click then uninstall .. for XP just go Control panel system device manager etc : reeboot and the computer will re install the DVD and hopefully clear the glitch .. hope this is of help to you Regards Vortash

hi firstly did the dvd drive come with a installation cd, if yes reinstall the cd
if no you could try this
right click my computer (icon) go to bottom of that list and left click properties
a box will open left click on the one what reads Hardware then click Device Manager this should give you a list of things on your pc look near the top of the list you should see 1 that says dvd/cd drives if there is a little + sign to the left of this click on the + and it will open your dvd drive should be there if it is right click on the drive and the left click update driver and follow onscreen promps (allow internet access)
with a bit of luck this should solve your problem.
sorry if you already know how to do this i've wrote it as if you have never been into the device manager before hope this helps in some way. regards gr1o1

RE: EXTERNAL HARDRIVE..

Disconnect the USB drive
Boot to Safe Mode (F8 at boot), then open device manager (Right Click MY Computer, Properties, hardware tab, devicemanager button) then find the USB Root hubs and delete them
Reboot in the normal mode, go back to device manager, usb root hubs, right click each, properties, power management tab, uncheck the check box to let windows power off the hub (On by default)
reboot, connect drive, see if it detects.
If it doesn't. open Disk Management (Click Start, click Run, type compmgmt.msc, and then click OK.
In the console tree, click Disk Management. The Disk Management window appears) http://support.microsoft.com/kb/309000
and see if it is seen then but has a conflict with the drive letter.
If that doesn't resolve, try drive on another system.
