KDS xf-7s, vertical lines

I have had vertical lines in the middle of my screen for some time now. Before, they only did this when I shut down the monitor. They would appear and then disappear. Now, they are there all the time and more prominent. I can barely see what is in the middle of my page. My monitor is only about 3-4 years old. How can I fix this? I have tried every fix that is on my monitor and nothing works. Please help. My email address is Thank you.

I took a course in Electronics with my job. I also worked as a tech in an electronic repair shop. I pretty much know what you are talking about. Thank you so much. I will work on it.

I am sure you have open the casng of the monitor.
Try to look for cold solder ( dry solder ) pin around the horizontal yoke connector and touch up the solder joints.Or either horizontal yoke coil is open.
Caution: not to touch if don't have knowledge of the circuitry .
Solder it the while power is off.
The input is 240v AC and output at the Anode Cap Appox. 28000 volt for 14 -15" monitor.
Have a try.

How to fix the screen looks like a line in the middle of screen for panasonic top dome 21 tv

If it is a horizontal line in the middle then it is possibly an IC which is responsible for the vertical scanning or the supply source to the IC. Please remember that the auto-shut function in the power supply prevent the screen from further damage. And if the line is vertical then it is a simple fault and all you need is to re-solder one spot related to the malfunction.

My tv was working perfectly then in the middle of my show it just turned off, when i turned it back on i could recognise my show through a thin horizontal line through the middle of the screen for less...

It is an indication of collapsed vertical deflection. Your vertical output IC might be shorted or have an open fusible resistor/yoke winding. It will automatically shuts down the unit to avoid damage to your tube. This is quite fixable and I've advice you to look for a qualified technician/repair shop to isolate the problem.

Thanks for using fixya.

Monitor has vertical lines down right side of screen

Check to see if there is dust in the vents on the monitor. Blow them out with canned air or dust them with a brush the best that you can. The lines could be caused by over heating which usually happens when the vents are plugged by dust.

If this does not solve the problem then the monitor has overheated to the point of burning pixels and needs to be replaced. Over time the lines with grow wider and wider until they cover your screen.

Screen went black with a vertical rainbow line down the middle

Failue of the vertical section, could be the drive, the power to the section or even some discrete componets. Unless you are familiar with electronics , get some help to ceck out on these circuits, could not be major but to get themain culprit will require good probing.

This indicates that your vertical sweep has failed and the auto protection circuit is shutting down the video so you do not permanently burn that line you see into the phosphor coating of the CRT.
At any rate, the vertical sweep circuits need repair before the unit will work again.
Good luck.

Picture problems

If the line goes across the screen you have a loose solder joint on the vertical output IC. I've seen this happen many times in Zeniths and a lot of other sets. If the IC is not loose then there is a loose solder joint somewhere else in the vertical circuit. These IC's are 10 - 13 pin chips that operate the vertical deflection on your set. I feel like a drop of solder in the right place will fix it! Stargazer
