Question about GE JBP24 QuickClean Electric Kitchen Range

Oven help Hi, I saw that you had a similar problem to me, and was curious how you fixed it. My oven was operating normally one day. The next day when I went to turn it on, the light came on normally to say that the oven was on but the oven never heated up. The same problem is present when I tried to turn on the burners; the light would come on saying that they were hot but they actually were not. I unplugged the unit and checked that it was receiving the proper 240 voltage. I also removed the back panel and checked that this voltage was making it into the unit itself, which it was. I have also checked my circuit breakers in my home, which are working properly. Thanks!! Ross rkanzinger@yahoo.com

Hey Ross,
My problem turned out to be a bad wire. I can't remember though if it showed when I tested the voltage or not--it seems like from memory though that it tested fine. HOWEVER, my home was built in the 1940's and upon inspection of the full length of cable and the junction box, it looked bad enough to make that the starting point for the fix. We swapped out the cable. It worked.
(btw, that was after buying a new oven, installing, and finding that it didn't work either...so I returned the oven and my old one is working like a charm.)
Good Luck

I tried turning the main oven on and it didn't heat up and had gas odor. Side oven and burners were working fine. Next day, tried again and it worked no problem. Next day, same issue.

The door is locked and will not open display says door locked been that way 3 days

Press and hold the oven lock button for approximately three seconds to turn off the oven lock. The oven lock button has a symbol of a padlock on it. You will hear a beep when the oven lock is turned off. You can now open the oven door and operate the oven as normal

How do I unlock the oven door after I self clean it

Hello there and thank you for choosing fixya:
Ok on this oven it has a internal reset feature that will trip sometimes when in the self clean mode :
To fix this here is what you need to do
First unplug the oven from the wall or if it is hard wired find the breaker for this oven and trip it next leave it for 1 hr to allow for the internal reset feature to reactivate after the hour is up plug in the power back to the oven you may hear a audible click if so simply press cancel and you are ready to go the door should now open and you can resume normal operations
Please note soemtimes this audiable click can take 5 min after the power is restored so please be patient ok
Hope this is very helpful for you

CAN NOT TURN ON OVEN

I found an Ad with a description of the burner knob operation. Unfortunately I found nothing on the oven knobs. However, it's possible that the oven knob operation is similar to the burner knobs... * Dual burner operates by pushing in knob once for inside ring only (1,000BTU) and pushing in again to activate the outer ring (total 16,000BTU) Hope that helps!
