Question about D-Link AirPlus DI-524 Wireless Router

RE: Wireless Router Linksys Router Model 546 Ver 2.0 S/N CDF50D9E2533 MAC 0012171D2E2A Recently my wireless router quits operating between the hours of 10 am and 1 pm. I am fairly sure that it is because of outside sources using the same or some harmonic of the freaquency my system. Any suggestions? On some wireless routers the frequency can be reset. Can the frequency be reset on my router? If so how do I do it. This type of problem has happened on a number of garage door openers in the area. I have been able to solve it for my friends by changing the operating frequency of their remote sending unit and the receiver on the garage door opener.

Go to your router's web application, by firing a browser any PC on your network (preferably one which is cabled to the router), and going to http://192.168.0.1 (if you haven't changed the default IP address, that is). Then, enter 'admin' as 'User name', and leave the 'Password' field empty (again, if you haven't changed these settings, either). Then, select 'Wireless', in the left side. In the 'Home' tab, you should find a dropdown menu standing for 'Channel'. You could try to set a different channel there. Then, clck on 'Apply', and see if your environment has improved. Othewise, repeat all the steps above for a different channel.
By the way, if your router's user manual happens to be missing, feel free to download it from this location.
Hope you are able to sort your problems out soon.
Regards, Carlos

Dear Assistants I have a router linksys compact wirless - g broadband router. model number WRT 54GC ver. 2 and i have a problem with it I cant find anywhere the WAN MAC Adress of the Linksys What to do???...

The Linksys has a device MAC address and the router issues IP addresses to the computers that are connected to it.
There is no WAN MAC address. Your ISP issues to your cable or DSL modem an unique IP address and you connect this modem into the WAN port on the Linksys router.
You enter the routers configuration address -
http://192.168.1.1
and login and configure the router.

To connect to your wireless router, it needs the router’s wireless settings configured and also needs the wireless cards in all the laptops and or computers to be configured with the router’s wireless settings. Then the laptops and desktop computers can communicate with your wireless router.

To set-up and secure the wireless router from unauthorized access, follow these steps: -
1. Connect the wireless router to your computer with a LAN cable.
2. Start your browser and enter the router's configuration URL IP address.
3. Enter the router setup, login and password
4. Change the admin password
5. Go to the wireless settings and change the default SSID and turn off SSID broadcast.
6. Setup encryption key the strongest is WPA2 (if not then WPA).
7. For further security measures - turn on MAC address filtering and enter the MAC address of the wireless cards on the computer/s you want to connect to this wireless router.
8. Record the settings you have made and keep it in a safe place and Save the settings.
9. Configure the wireless cards on the computer/s with the SSID and encryption settings of the router.
10. Remove the LAN cable between the router and the computer then the computers should be able to connect to the router wirelessly.
To access the Internet you need to connect the DSL or cable modem to the WAN (Internet) port on the wireless router.

The 2 different operating systems can run off the same router. Also check to see which type of security you are using I would suggest WPA2 if you do not see that listed you will need a firmware update.

Your wired network adapter will talk to a wired router without a driver for the router on your computer. Your wireless adapter likewise will talk to your wireless router without a driver for the wireless router on your computer. Your wired and wireless adapters however do require drivers and the wireless adapter can require configuration. Please provide the manufacturer and model of your computer so I can learn about your wireless adapter and we can work to get it connected to the router.
