With most DSL modems, make sure that the modem is in the "Bridge" mode. As your ISP, or consult the instructions manual about the Bridge mode.
With some IPS services, they are looking a particular MAC address for the registered computer. This is part of their security. You can call your ISP for details. If it is a particular MAC address that they are looking for, there are ways that you may be able clone the MAC address in the router.

If this is the case and you want to learn more, do some searches for MAC Address router cloning.

Wireless conection

To enable or setup the wireless on a modem router you usually have to connect the computer to the router with a lan cable first, go in to the routers settings, most routers use the web browser to access the settings but read the manual for the correct procedure. Then you put in your account details supplied by your internet service provider.
Enable wireless and apply security settings like a wep key, wpa, or wpa2 passkey. Restart the router, remove the lan cable and you're done.
When any wireless device tries to connect it will need the wep key, wpa, or wpa2 passkey to be entered to allow access.
