Hello,

The remote usually enters Safe Mode when the battery is removed and reinstalling the battery while holding the Power button - My guess is that this started when you were replacing the batteries or there may be a corruption.

To get out of it, do a firmware update from your PC. This will install the latest firmware and your configuration. Safe mode is a bootstrap designed to recover from firmware corruption issues so about the only thing it knows how to do is reload firmware.

Good luck.

    Hello again,

in addition to my first post: However, if the remote fails to communicate with the PC when it is stuck in Safe Mode, please try the following.
    1.
Remove the batteries from the remote & check for any stuck buttons
especially the Power button that may be causing the remote to stay in
    this state.
    2. If it still will not apply firmware to get out of
safe mode, then still without batteries hold down the #2 button while
plugging into USB, and it should exit Safe Mode, and say something
similar to 'Firmware Upgrade Success'. Even though it says this,
still perform the Firmware upgrade since it was stuck in Safe Mode to
    begin with.

Firmware can be found from your accounts Home page, at the top Downloads -> Firmware.

    Take care.

520 remote is locked in safe mode...tried removing/installing batteries...tried to do a firmware update, but it appears it doesn't recognize the remote is connected to the computer...also turned off...

Hi There,

One solution I have found online for getting the 520 out of safe mode is to follow these steps:

1. Remove the batteries.
2. Hold the '2' button down on the remote.
3. Whilst still holding the '2' button down, replace the batteries.
4. The remote should now boot in normal mode.

Please note, If the 'off' button is held down whilst inserting the batteries the remote starts up into safe mode.

Hope this helps,

James

Batteries died. changed out batteries now shows remote is in "safe mode!" help please

If you remove the batteries for about 10-20 seconds and put them back in, it will take it out of safe mode.

If that does not fix it, press and hold the power button while you put the batteries back in and then remove the batteries again for 10-20 seconds.

This should fix the issue!!

Have a nice day!

My Logitech Remote 550 is Locked in the Safe Mode. How do I get it our of Safe Mode.

Doing a firmware upgrade is the BEST way to recover from Safe Mode. A remote may go into safe mode itself for a variety of reasons.

However, if the remote fails to communicate with the PC when it is stuck in Safe Mode, please try the following.

1. Remove the batteries from the remote & check for any stuck buttons especially the Power button that may be causing the remote to stay in this state.
2. Even though it says this, still perform the Firmware upgrade since it was stuck in Safe Mode to begin with.
