If your Whirlpool FRONT LOADER is leaking, the following link can give you guidance on how to inspect the washer to determine where the source of the leak may be coming from:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3576656-washer_leak__front_loader

Most commonly, the source of the leak comes from the door bellow (gray rubber seal). They do wear out with age and can develop small rips and tears. A routine inspection of the perimeter of the door seal can determine if you have any holes. If the seal is damaged, it must be replaced. The following link explains how:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r3574186-installing_a_door_bellow_on_a_front_load

The manufacturer recommends that you leave the washer door open between washes to prevent the seal from becoming permanently stretched. Once the seal stays compressed constantly it can stretch and not seal properly. In addition, leaving the door open helpd let the wash tub air out and prevent mold, mildew and musty odors.

Replacement parts (if required) can be purchased at any of the following web sites:

searspartsdirect.com
pcappliancerepair.com
appliancepartspros.com
repairclinic.com

Prices vary between sites, so shop and compare. The first three sites listed also have helpful exploded view parts illustrations to assist you with locating and properly identifying the parts you may need.

If you have any questions, please post back with your complete MODEL NUMBER and let me know. I hope you find this information helpful.

Picture of the drain filter on the front of a LG washer

There is a video here. They are normally a plastic plug with a rubber seal. You turn the handle in the centre which makes the rubber seal expand to seal the plug.

Please always include full model details. The manuals are normally online.

Water leaking out of front of washer

At a guess i would say there is a cut in the rubber seal around the door sometimes its hard to spot it but if you pour a cup of water on the seal and see if the water comes down under the machine if so you wil need a repair man/woman it a hard job

Water is leaking copiously from the bottom front door.I think the seal has broken. How difficult is it to replace.A repair man cannot even look at it until wednesday next week.

Before you replace it try cleaning the bottom of the glass door. Often water deposits and soap build up on the bottom of the glass door and it no longer makes a good seal with the door boot.
Other wise it's not hard to replace the boot, just take a little time as you will have to remove the front of the washer.

Whirlpool quiet partner 2 Water leaks from the bottom of the door, alot of water, we can watch it pour out. The door is closed all the way. I dont see a gasket along the bottom of the door where it would...

Hello, Thank You for using FixYa. I will be helping you today. There is no seal for the bottom it is an air gap. If there is a damaged lower spray arm or crack in it water will come over that edge. Check the spray arm for damage. Open the door remove the screws down the sides and remove the front cover the close the door and start a cycle then you can see better where the water is comming from
Thank You and please rate my answer if it was helpful..

WHEN I TURN WASHER ON WATER STARTS POURING OUT OF THE BOTTOM OF THE MACHINE AND ONTO THE FLOOR. WATER IS COMING FROM THE BOTTOM LEFT SIDE.

The drum seal is bad. The seal allows the center to come up through the tub and the tub to rotate around it, It usually has a rubber membrane that flexes so the tub can rock around. The rubber tears and the water runs right out. If you can, disassemble the washer and change the seal, otherwise the washer is toast. Sorry! You can verify this by pouring water in from a bucket. If this water doesn't run through then it is the hose from the fill valve to the water outlet under the lid.

Water leaks out front

I had exactly the same problem with my Kenmore Ultrawash. I thought the leaking might be coming from the seals around the door, but found that it was leaking from the top as described. I removed the air vent cover on the inside of the door and found that it and the vent area had a great deal of what appeared to be dissolved paper. At first I thought perhaps this was somehow remenents of some kind of air filter, but after reading the post here, came to conclude this was foreign matter. I believe what happended is we at some time washed jars or something with lables on it and this stuff accummulated inside the air vent area. I think in a normal case, when the washer is running, water is mostly stopped from going into the air vent area by the hatched cover, but inevitably some water would get thru. This would be ok normally, because the water would just hit the vent area and probably just fall back into the washer. With all the debris stuck in the vent area and on the cover, I suspect the water was not able to exit the vent area or was hitting the debris and causing the water to jet out the opening to the front - hence the water coming out the vent and pouring down the front. Once I cleaned out the vent area and the cover from the debris, I replaced the cover and ran the washer with no water leaking anymore.

I'm so glad you posted your finding - it gave something to look into, and turned out to be the same source of the problem. You saved me a service call.
