From your description it seems that when the high voltage comes up there is a fault detected by the uPC, and the power supply is put in to the protect mode. This can be from many problems such as the flyback transformer failing, or a defective component(s) in the secondary supply from the flyback, or the CRT itself having a failure.

On many of these sets, there is an HV multiplier that is part of the flyback assembly. This HV multiplier is usually where the fault occures more so than the internal windings of the flyback. But, they come as one molded assembly.

Most often, I have seen this fault from the flyback transformer or the CRT.

This has nothing to do with anything you connected to the set. This problem would have occured anyways.

most likely a bad mainboard or bad caps in the power supply. Borderline on the repair-ability. I would check Shopjimmy.com to see if used parts are available. If they are it may be worth it.

I have a wd-65738 TV . Heard pop no picture with

That pop was probably a capacitor blowing up in the power supply. Could be another power component too. Get an estimate from a TV repair shop first to see if it's worth fixing or flat screen TV time.

Hi,

The most common cause of Panasonic Rear Projection LCD TVs not starting is bulb failure. The PT-60LC13 users manual gives some help in translating the LEDs on the front of the TV.

If the TV worked normally for a period of time (months or years) and won't start, the most likely cause is bulb failure. There is no way to measure the bulb, sometimes the bulb is visibly damaged when it fails. Remove the Lamp Assembly and look at the bulb.

If there was an On-Screen Lamp Replace warning and TV won't start, bulb has failed.

The first step with all Panasonic Rear Projection TV "No Picture" problems is bulb replacement. If that does not remedy the problem, get a technician, there are no user serviceable parts. Guessing if the ballast, power supply, controller board or optical engine is faulty is not practical.

The Panasonic Lamp Gallery shows all Panasonic models and Lamp Numbers. There is also a link to Panasonic DIY bulb and lamp replacement.

On start up the TV produces a loud buzzing sound, the picture flashes then the screen goes black. What is the problem and is the unit worth fixing?

Major failure in the power source. If it's worth repairing only you know that - without actually seeing the tv i can  do just a very uncertain estimate of the price of the repair: around $150.

When turning on my panasonic cinemavision tv, it makes a click sound then the power button light flashes red three times, no picture comes on the screen, any ideas what should be done?

Most likely a power supply failure although the flashing of the LED a fixed number of times may point to something else such as a lamp failure. If you can find a forum for this series, you may find a Panasonic tech who can give you a better read on this.

Power button Flashes, tv doesn't turn on

Buy a new one , not worth fixing. I have the same tv, with the same problem . It's getting old now and the price of a new one . It might cost $ 400-500 big ones to fix it . Thats half the price of a new flat screen , cheap model mind you . But I still think it's not worth it .

Picture and Sound flash from 'on' to a black screen

Hi, The problem lies within the unit. You have a hardware failure within the board. The power supply board needs to be repaired or replaced. If you are a handy person, you can easily swap the power supply board.. If not, bring it you to local reapir shop, they will find the parts and replace it for you. I wish I had a better solution like an easy fix for you. Sorry, but on hardware failure, there is no easy fix. Thanks, Mike
