Question about HP Pavilion a1250n (EG194AA) PC Desktop

1 Answer

Looking for power up issue help please. Attempted to put comp. in to sleep mode by pressing keyboard button. Nothing happened. Went to windows xp start button and hit standby, nothing happened. Did this again and still nothing happened. Then shut down computer through windows shut down menu. Computer shut off. Next morning I attempted to turn computer on with on button. Nothing happened. It appeared that that was no power. There was power going to computer power supply. Eventually checked power supply with meter and by jumping socket prongs with socket disconnected from mother board and was getting proper voltages. I?m not sure but it appears that computer might be stuck in standby mode or something like that. Does anyone have any suggestions or fixes. HP a1250N, 24 pin socket, micro star 7184 ver.1 motherboard. Hipro D3057F3R power supply. I have also tried to power up with HD drive disconnected and other hdware disconnected.

    A) What was the Voltage on the 12 Volt power rail? 11 to 13 Volts - Kool, less than 11 Volts replace the Power Supply. B) Did you bypass the Power On switch, with a jumper wire from the Soft Power On wire to any Ground wire? To rule out that the Power On switch is not the problem? (24-pin ATX main power cable PLUGGED into mobo. Green wire is the Soft Power On wire. ANY Black wire is a Ground wire.http://www.playtool.com/pages/psuconnect... ) Post back in a Comment.

My computer will only turn on in "sleep mode"

When the computer is on try just pushing the power button in and out once. if this doesn't work you may need to change some settings in the startup setup menu to keep sleep mode off. Usually when a computer is turned on there is something like "press F1 for Bios or DEL (something else) for setup" setup is where you'll want to go. it will look like an old MS DOS program but using your arrow keys to navigate you should be able to change the settings.

Sleep Mode Lockup on Dell Inspirion 530 w/ Vista

Try hitting the "Windows" key on your keyboard to bring it out of sleep mode. The "Windows" key is generally found on the bottom row of the keyboard, near the Alt and Ctrl keys, and it has no letters on it, just the Windows logo. That key brings my Windows Vista machines out of sleep mode when other keys won't.

As for the power button, anytime you need to force a computer to turn off, you can press and hold the power button to do so. Usually, you need to hold the power button for 5-10 seconds and it will shut down. Use this option with caution, as it turns the computer off without running through the shutdown process and can cause you to lose data.

Hope this helps.

GEPower Keyboard Help - Worked before, but not now

Did you install the CD software program for the Keyboard?
The Keyboard should have been plugged in before you started your computer. Then you should have installed the CD program.

Also after installation if it doesn't work try the following:
Normal 0 Press the Receiver button (and the lights will start flashing.
Then if the Keyboard isn't working, press the small RESET/CONNECT button on the back of the board to connect the keyboard to the receiver.

My computer will not go to stand by or sleep mode

Were you able to make the computer go to sleep mode before? Well what you can try doing is go to start, run and type msconfig, click ok. You will get the system configuration window, then go to the startup tab in the system configuration window and at the bottom of the window there is a button as disable all, click that and on the same window there are startup items, select the antivirus program and items that you would need to have at the task bar. Then click apply and ok. You will get a message to restart the computer. Click restart. As it restarts you will get a message saying that you have used the system configuration window, click do not show me the message again in the message. Also you can go to start, right click on My computer and go to properties, click the hardware tab, and select the device manager button. That would show you the device manager window. From the list of hardwares listed in the window, right click on network adaptors, properties and under the power management tab uncheck all the power options checkboxes. Now you can close all the windows and try to go to sleep mode again. You can also try disconnecting the USB devices as you try going to sleep mode and see if that works, if yes, try connecting the USB devices one at a time and check again.

When I select sleep or hibernate mode - the monitor stays black...

Hit the keyboard keys. It is better to just turn sleep and hibernate off and just use a screen saver or tun it off.
