Question about Cub Cadet Garden

2 Answers

Hi...I have a 2005 Cub Cadet 2042. With the switch in ''normal'' and the PTO engaged, when going forward cutting the grass the PTO will disengage for no apparent reason. You have to push the PTO knob in and then out to re-engage the deck. This happens quite a bit, to the point that I will put the switch in the ''reverse'' position and cut the lawn that way. Can you help? Mike

In the cub cadet, the PTO power is maintained via a latching circuit that includes a reverse switch and a reverse relay. Locate the reverse switch that senses whether the tractor is in reverse -- either it's come loose, become misadjusted, or it's failed, or the wiring and connections are loose. You could bypass the switch to confirm this as the problem.

Why will a cub cadet lawn mower cut grass a few mi. then stop cutting?

Sounds like the electric PTO clutch is bad and needs to be replaced. The straps within the clutch brake causing it to get out of position and the clutch keeps disengaging. You can buy the clutches on line cheaper but they don't last as long.

I have a rzt 54 cub cadet, when i engage the pto it cuts breifly then the mower shuts down PLEASE HELP

A battery going bad may be your culprit. I found out just the other day that your mower can keep running but when the battery gets too weak, the pto clutch disengages and shuts down,

Cub cadet Z Force 48 inch zero turn blades won't engage

I hope this will help you...under the side panels on each side of the mower, there are "reverse lockout safety switches", they are supposed to stop the blades when both handles are pulled back. If one or both of the switches are out, the deck will not engage. Also, under the right side panel (when sitting on seat) there should be 3 relay switches, the one closest to the motor controls the PTO., if this is out, the PTO will not engage.
