Go to device manager
right click my computer/manage/device manager
uninstall your audio device, it will reinstall automatically (you may need to reboot to force this)
right click on the speaker icon on your system tray and set your default playback device if its not already done.
This should fix it

If you go to Microsofts web site and choose updates, you may well find it isn't needed at all. Did your sound stop working? If it did got to Dell.com and update the drivers from there.
