SOURCE: have an intex 16 x48" salt water pool generator

I checked the Intex web site and here is what they said:

There are several things you may need to check and do:

- Test the salt level first with Test Kit, and add salt as needed.
- Remove the electrolytic cell for inspection and clean it if necessary.
- If code 91 still appears despite the above steps, there might be a possible electrolytic cell
failure. Please contact Intex Service Center, and replace the cell if needed.

NOTE: Always turn the power off and disconnect power cord before cleaning and servicing.

I hope this helps.

Low salt

The salt chlorinator cell should be cleaned with a proper cell cleaning fluid. Your pool surface may coat the salt cell with calcium and unless this has been removed it will not generate chlorine efficiently no matter how much salt you add to the pool water.
When the salt cell has been cleaned properly then the amount of salt in your pool may exceed then recommended concentration and it will overload the power supply to the salt cell and the salt concentration will need to be reduced.

I have forgotten how to set my salt water system to initially chlorinate the water after i added the salt. It keeps beeping and the code says no salt is detected.

Could be a couple of things. Have you put the right amount of salt in according to the tables (I find I always have to add a bit more then the tables say). Have you let the salt mix completly by stirring up any salt laying on the bottom of the pool and by running the pump for at least 24 hours before turning on the salt generator. Depending on how large the pool is you may need more than 24 hours before turning on the salt generator. If still doesnt work than you can try adding more salt a little bit at a time over a couple of days. Also check to see if the electrolytic plates need cleaning. Unscrew the large grey connector to the left of where the wire goes into the sensor and look inside the unit on the left)

KEEP GETTING A CODE 91 LOW SALT?

Hello,
As mentioned in many of my post's, you can not just go by the reccomended amount of salt in the owners manual.
You must get salt test strips that read in #'s not colors and get your salt as close to 3000ppm as possible lower than 2800 and you will not generate enough chlorine or trigger low salt alarms
any higher than 3500ppm and you could get cloudy, or trigger high salt alarm
the water will also taste too salty when adding salt dont forget to stir up the water and filter only for at least 12 hours before trying to generate salt

Longer if you ad a lot of salt like 75 lbs or so

I just bought a saltwater system for my 12x39 pool a month ago did start up like book said and pool was fine for a month then the low salt light came on so i put 15 lbs of salt in per instructions kids...

you really should get test strips for salt. Get the kind that reads #'s
Get your pool to as close to 3000ppm as you can. any lower than 27000 and you do not generate enough chlorine any higher than 3600 will taste bad and could trigger high salt alarm 3000 is best

run filter only for a few hours before running generator the salt needs enough time to fully distribute through the pool

Code 91

If you have hard water in your location you may want to try cleaning the electrolytic plate. I had the same issue where no matter how much salt was added I had code 91. I shut the water down going through the filter / generator. Pulled the outlet hose off and put on a cap. Pulled copper cell out and filled chamber with vinegar. Put cell back in and let set for 1 hour. Fluhed it out and hooked everything back up. Nop more salt problems. The process is in the book.

No warning code, green light on but no chlorine produced???????

make sure your ppm is at least 3000 low salt may not trigger an alarm but is not sufficient for generating chlorine

also make sure you are running the generator for at least 4-6 hours to give the chlorine time to register

the system itself blows out very minute amounts of chlorine but build up after hours of being on

Salt light flashing added salt light went to orange no longer flashing but no chlorine lights will light has been 29 hours

All salt generators need at least 4-5000 parts per million for up to 30 days for the generators to re-generate salt. it takes chlorine to combined with the generator and salt to regenerate salt. Salt generators do not make salt from water that is not chlorinated first.
Try This and you will re gererate chlorine.
