Question about Frigidaire Washing Machines

1 Answer

Last load we did didn't spin at the end of the cycle. Now washer doesn't start at all. Sounds like it wants to and there's a couple of "shots" of water, but then it stops. The timer keeps counting down though.

Hi

Thanks for using FixYa. If there is no power at all to the washer then the first thing is to check if a fuse is blown or a circuit breaker tripped, you can try to unplug it and plug it back after 3-4 minutes and see if that helps. If all this seem to be fine then it means that the Lid Switch is defective. The switch is inside the washing machine main housing near the door frame. Often you have to raise or open the top or front of the washer to get to the switch. If it's defective, you need to replace it. Please do accept the solution if the issue is resolved or post a comment for further assistance.

Thanks
Rylee

TO start with check the water inlet valve for any clogs and try to clean it. If its working fine then its the control board that should be replaced if not then the water inlet valve should be replaced.

It sounds like you have a motor coupling that is broken. There are videos on YouTube to show you how to repair this. Search for "motor coupling repair on direct drive".

Spin cycle doesn't work...sounds like its spinning but it's not.

Does it agitate in the wash cycle?if not, you need to check the "motor coupling" on the unit. Below is a video to show you how. Here is a kink to the part.

If the water is pumping out fine you may need new shocks. But if it is slow pump the shaft on the pump is loose and causing the noise and possibly the spin issue. If it is loud when it does go into a spin (sounds like a jet engine) you have bad bearings. Big bucks to fix.

I have a quiet series 300 and it does that, too. I think it just balances the load before washing and is normal. I found this in the manual:

Maytag neptune MLG2000AWW does not turn off at end of spin cycle

d sounds as if your having a timer issue here. not recognizing the end of cycle and entering a new one ( bad timer).. as far as time of unlocking this is normal, theres a wax motor holding the door shut for i believe 3 min's.. and the water sloshing sounds is also normal they use a "water filled" balance ring around the perimeter of tub to help with the overall balance of machine

Kenmore 20692 top load washer won't spin. The

This is most likely a motor coupling. Pull washer towards you about two feet tilt back, look at floor for black sute. The coupling is attached to the motor to the transmission. It cost about 15.00 and takes a novice less than an hour. There are two 1/4 inch srews, one on top one on bottom , remove these use a scwrew driver to pop off the clips, pry off coupling on both side and replace.

Water not draining out w/ spin cycle

sounds like water may be going out but no spin in last cycle lean washer back and ck underneath for oil leak on top off transmission is a silver colored disk shaped object this is part of clutch if there appears to be a lot of oil on it good chance there is oil on clutch also causing it not yo spin..also ck to see if basket spins after short pause at end of rinse cycle ..start a rinse cycle at setting on timer with lid shut allow to run undisturbed ..once agitation stops in rinse timer should stop then start motor back up to drain ..there should be another short pause then washer should start spinning if does not pause suspect suspect timer if it does pause but doesn't start spinning suspect transmission..remember allow washer to advance by itself DO NOT RAISE LID TO CK..a small load of clothes will let you know if washer has spun
