I've found that Windows 7 is a much more stable operating system than previous editions even going back to windows xp.
However, if you want to get your system stable, I would 'restore' or even 'recover' to its factory state.
That way, you know you don't have viruses or other bad software on the hard disk drive.

If the cursor is stuck/frozen when we use the touchpad it can be solved by the following method.
Switch off the laptop, disconnect it from power, remove the battery and keep pressing the Power switch for 30 seconds.
Then reconnect battery and the external power in that order and power on the laptop. the cursor will be moving again.
