If the subtitles are played by the TV then you can stop closed captioning. However, if the captions are part of the movie, then you have to select movie settings at the beginning of the movie or click these using the menu keys to get manual control without a remote.

Half the screen is blackened for about a half hour...then its fine, what is causing this? How can I fix it?

First, A new TV LCD should not display malfunction. Liquid Crytaline Devices allows the program to display across the screen area, also capable of high definition alterations either user adjusted or program device alterations to suit conditions. However, three technical requirements makes achievable TV experiences. First, the connection cables to the LCD screen should be firmly fastened. Check all connection cable connections from pheriperal devices to the TV firmly fastening to prevent media seepage. Second, LCD TV screens display fliud expressions when pressure is appplied from an external scource on the Screen. Over exerting the screen with a weight should produce distorted pictures. Third, attempt to ascertain the media that is being played on the TV. For example, broken movie disk would appear distoprted on the LCD screen because is designe for sensitivity. A muttated picture displayed on the LCD screen usually is tracable elsewhere to connection devices orpheriperals. Brand New LCD TVs are expected to least malfunction unless were physically damaged. Hi, how to enable subtitles for DivX movies from USB on LG 42LE5500? I connect USB, TV recognizes folder where DivX .avi file is but within same folder it does not "see" .srt subtitle. Also, in settings...

It seems that subtitle file must have exactly same name as movie file. For example: Movie file: Mission impossible.avi Subtitle file: Mission impossible.srt or Mission impossible.sub or Movie file: Mission_impossible.avi Subtitle file: Mission_impossible.srt

Subtitle Problem: Onkyo TX-sr605

The only remote that will definitely turn the sat subtitles on/off is the sat remote. The other subtitle buttons on the other remotes refer to the DVD subtitles and the subtitles generated by the tuner in the tv. The subtitle option is greyed out on the tv because you are not on the tv tuner.

If you have two sets of subtitles when the DVD subtitles are turned on, turn off the closed captioning on the TV menu and on the DVD player and this should solve your problem
