Yes I had the same problem.
I have replcaed the toner. Did not work.
Then I hit the printer left, right and top then, miracle- it worked.

    Thank you guys

I responsibly tried making sure that I was properly inserting the printer cartridge and closing the door tightly. Then I replaced the printer cartridge. Hours later, I began beating the life out of my machine as recommended, but it's still not working. What else can be done besides throwing it in the dumpster outside? FYI...I've had about ten of these Canon machines in the past 5 years at my office and probably 3 of them have died this way. 3 others have died when the papers stops feeding properly and starts jamming. It just becomes not feasible to keep having them serviced instead of buying a new one.

I've tried everything mentioned. No luck. The laser flap has, about, 1/8" open. I flipped it open over & over. Guess I'll take to service. Still under warranty but, the closest repair is 95 miles away. I won't ship this monster. Who knows, maybe the jolt from shipping would do it:-).

1. Remove paper tray.
2. Reach inside copier & tap upward using a medium sized flashlight. (Or other object approximately 8" x 2")

After about six upward taps, my copier is working perfectly.

I've tried everything before for months... unplugging, new cartridges, servicing, etc. I've always avoided jarring an electronic item, but hitting the front fixed it! A couple of open-palmed smacks above the paper drawer, and it printed this very page. Apparently, sometimes the cover over the laser sticks shut after replacing the print cartridge, or removing a paper jam. Sounds crazy, but smack it!

Try putting the cartridge in and sliding it to the right to make sure it is making a good connection. Try to make sure the cartridge door is shut firmly as to open the Laser shutter which allows the laser to write to the drum.

Can anyone tell me where the formatter is located?
Is it part of the mainboard of the mf5750?
I read somewhere, that the formatter is responsible, if standard printing works (status reports etc), but normal printing tasks do not.
Really no solution guys? I cannot believe this.
Thanks for any advice.

If the paper feeds through but nothing is on it, it indicates that the toner is not being properly fed. Go to this link, type "printout is blank" in the Search window and click the search button. Next, click on the "Printout is blank" line, and review the document. Especially check that you have removed the seals from the toner cartridge (see steps 7 and 9 on the second part).

How to locate the printer head for model mf5500

The Canon MF5500 series are laser printers. There is no print head. If your pages are coming out blank, check that you have sufficient toner. If you have toner, then the machine may require service.

Paper comes out with nothing on it

Possibly sounding silly here, (again) but have you removed the seal from the toner cartridge (This is a breakaway plastic tab, connected to a length on plastic, which seals the toner for transit)

If this has not been removed from the cartridge then it fails in just the way you are describing
