True they are a sealed unit. Depending on age, it's usually smarter to replace it, than have a technician, install fittings to recharge, and no warranty.

My 19 ft airstream's Penguin duo-therm a/c unit just started blowing out HOT air!!!! Why is this occurring?

If you have a heatpump model a/c unit, and it is blowing air that is hotter than the ambient temperature inside the airstream, then it is likely that your reversing valve is stuck in the open or closed position. A heatpump is basically an air conditioner that will also run in reverse (via the reversing valve) in order to heat instead of cool. The valve can get stuck for a variety of reasons, including; faulty wiring caused by rodents chewing or vibrations, insulators (dirt) between switch surfaces, or it could be a mechanical problem within the valve its self; these valves break often.

2007 dodge nitro not blowing cold air

The AC compressor may need recharged, or repaired / replaced. A lot of times what happens is through the winter AC units aren't ran so the seals recieve no oil and dry out letting coolant escape. Sometimes you can get lucky and a recharge (which contains oil essential for your seals) will do it - if they are too dry however, you will need a new compressor. You can have your AC unit recharged at nearly any dealership except in the state of California. Hope this helps.

It is true that it is a sealed unit and should never need charged with freon unless a leak has developed. Most service techs will tell you that they cannot be recharged because you do have to break into the sealed system with a solder in valve or a line tap. They hold such a small amount of freon that finding and fixing the leak can be next to impossible and time consuming. Make sure that the inside and outside coils are clean. The outside fins can be brushed with a semi-soft brush like a toilet brush and then washed out with water. Make sure your power is off first. If the coils are dirty it will act just like it does if the refrigerant is low. 75 to 80 percent of air conditioner service calls are solved by cleaning the outside condenser coil. Brush up and down and do not put so much water pressure on it that the cooling fins start bending.

Not getting any cool air

Unit works good? Is the compressor coming on but not blowing cold air? If the compressor is running but not cooling, then the main issue is usually with cleanliness of the condenser. Wash it out if this is the case. If the compressor is not coming on, multiple problems could be the reason.

These units do not have service ports as a normal AC does. If you have lost freon then there is a leak in the system somewhere as they are sealed. The process for recharging a rooftop unit is usually expensive and not fail safe. I would recommend a new unit if a leak is discovered.

Air conditioner blows cool air but it does not blow cold air.

Start by recharging your system. If you want to do it yourself. Most auto parts stores and hardware stores have recharge kits. Purchase a kit with a gauge to prevent overfilling.

Double check your wiring .if the indoor fan is not blowing then you either have an electrical issue OR bad blower motor .
