Mine does this when I plug it into my computer to charge and then the laptop is closed or the computer hibernates. I simply slide the power switch up to the ON position all the way and hold it there for at least fifteen seconds before releasing it. It then turns off. I allow 5 seconds and it turns on as ususal, no problem.
Hi, this is a very common problem the problem you are having is with the contact between the screen and the circuit board it usually goes like this after it has been dropped or got wet or damp, now the bad news is that the screen will need either replacing or taking out and putting back in correctly.
you could try hitting the mp3 into the palm of you hand to try and shock it back into place how ever if this dont work then the chances are the screen needs replacing due to damaged contact.
now if you have done this type of work before then you can try and repair it yourself if you can get hold of a new screen ( you could try the well known auction site for this part) but if you have never done this before then please leave it to someone who knows as its not the easiest of parts to replace and you could damage the circuit board further by getting it wrong.
the thing you have to work out is if the cost of repair is going to cost more than a new one then is it worth fixing or not, the chances are you could get a decent second hand one for the same price as paying to have this repaired
