Sub Zero 650/s control board light is out and inside lights out but fridge works.

On this model, the lights work with the light switch, if it stick all the light in that section will not work. Parts number 7014646 (about 20 bucks) If only the control display is not illuminated then the bulb behind the control is the only problem.

I hope this helps.

Pro48 sub zero clicking

This usually indicates that the control module is bad. Trace the clicking to it's source either on the back of the fridge or inside the fridge near the controls.

The light on the refrigerator side of my Sub Zero does not work

The light switch at the top of the door frame is bad. it controls all the lighting including the display for the board. you will have to remove the grille up top, remove the cover over the 2 switches, and replace the switch that is all white. the one with a black back is for the fan and rarely goes bad. Just unplug the unit or at least turn it off before changing this switch, as it is live any time the unit is turned on.

My sub z shows a "service 21 EC" on the control panel.. what does this mean???

Check your owner's manual for a guide to the code. If not available, you may want to contact an appliance service company. It sounds like there is an issue with the "electronic control board" itself, but confirm this with a service company if unavailable in your manual.

Control panel is reading EC but numerical code...temperature reading is erratic as well. I turned the unit off and waited for 5 minutes and then turned it back on. I don't hear the unit running and EC is...

This is you electronic control board that is going out. You should probably repalce it as soon as possibel to prevent further parts from going out on your Sub Zero.

We are Sub Zero Parts Suppliers and will be happy to get this board out to you asap if you will contact us.

We hope this solves your problem and we look forward to being able to assist you with other appliance issues.

Refrigerator (s/n: AV051008384) refrigeration unit (Peltier) not functioning. The fan is functional. Removed PCBA, no visual evidence of electrolytic capacitor rupture or thermal overstress to components...

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Peltier devices although not that efficient are known to be reliable. On your described problem, possibilities are:
  • thermoelectric (Peltier) module(s) (most likely) - the active cooling elements.  Most design have several sub-modules connected in series to form an array.  Failure of one in between will fail the entire module;
  • controller board  (likely) - or more specifically the section that regulates/control supplied power to the Peltier modules;
  • sensor (least likely) - most designs would have a sensor for the hotside forced ventilation system.   If the external ventialtion (fan) fails, then the controller board would prevent supply of voltage to the modules;
  • connectors (a possibility) - other than the Peltier effect, it is possible to have electrolysis on the terminals/connectors which would cause corrosion.  Check and clean all connectors to expose fresh metal, ensure tightness and positive contact.
An easy check is to test for the presence / absence of voltage to the module(s).  If voltage could be found, then it would be the Peltier module(s) that have failed. Absence of supply voltage would indicate the controller board to be possibly faulty.  To confirm, determine if there is power supplied to the controller board but none is in turn supplied to the Peltier modules. Absence of power going into the controller board would indicate a power supply problem.

Please exercise due caution when working with a live unit.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.
