What type of keyboard do you have? Is it wireless (no cable connecting to the computer)?

Built a new computer system.there is only one port on the back of the unit for kybrd/mouse.I chose the mouse and used a usb spot for the kybrd.Win7 sees the kybrd as an unknown device and it still don

With most keyboards they cannot be adapted for USB if it is a PS2 type. It is possible to have a keyboard for very low in cost. I would suggest getting a USB keyboard.

With Windows 7, many of the older keyboards will not work. I have some old type high end Windows Keytronick type boards. These go back to before 2002. They will not work with Windows 7.

Acer laptop problems with typeing

First thing try swapping out your keyboard with another; if problem stops you possibly have dirt in the keyboard-needs cleaning or possibly replacement. If problem does not stop and your keyboard is USB try a different USB port to plug in to. If problem still does not stop try a system restore back to a date before this started. If that does not help, try entering safe mode. If problem stops something is loading that is conflicting with the mouse. Enter MSconfig and disable all load entries, reboot and see if problem stops. If it does, enable each entry 1X1 until problem starts again and you found the problem. That should get you started.

OK! Lets troubleshoot this together.

First thing we want to do is verify that your keyboard & mouse and plugged into the correct places and are powered up and able to work.

Turn your computer on and look at your keyboard and tell me if any lights are on to show that it has power and is operational.

Watch the keyboard lights until the computer gets to the login page and tell me if the lights come on and stay on? Or do the lights turn on for a moment and then turn off again?

If you do not see any lights, please clarify if there are NO LIGHTS on your style of keyboard or if there are lights but they are not lighting up.

If your keyboard has lights and they are not lighting up at all, then turn off the computer and unplug the mouse and keyboard and swap them around. Then turn the computer on again and tell me if the lights come on and the mouse and keyboard become operational.

Once we verify this we can continue to the next step of troubleshooting. Please report what you find and I will help you solve this.

My mom coughed up on her gateway ZA8 netbook, and though i've dried it and done a system restore as well as checked that the drivers are updated... the keyboard wont type or respond - help please :(

The keyboard has likely gotten fried, due to a short circuit..It's unlikely it'll work ever again if she 'coughed up' alot...
Your best bet is to get it fixed under warranty or an extended warranty, if you still have one.
You can also get a USB keyboard to hook up to it, or you can find a laptop repair shop to get a new keyboard installed.

If you just bought the computer yesterday? I would take it back. That is the easiest way around this, let them rectify this problem for you.

Hope this helps

Cursor jumps around when typing. It will go anywhere in the document. Happens in all programs.

What type of keyboard you are using (PS/2 or USB)? Is that a regular keyboard or multimedia keyboard? You need to isolate the problem. Please follow the steps below.

If you are using a USB keyboard:

1. Connect the keyboard into different USB ports of the computer.
2. Connect the keyboard into different computer.
3. Try using different keyboard to see if the problem will persist.

If that is a wireless keyboard:

1. Try replacing the battery
2. Connect the receiver into different USB ports.

Check the keyboard settings:

1. Go to the Control Panel > Keyboard
2. Adjust the keyboard settings and speed.

Hope it helps and have a great day!

Tarantula doesn work after installing new firmware

there seems to be alot of firmware issues with alot of razors products at the moment, use another keyboard for the minute and navigate to their site, downgrade your firmware to the one that worked. or alternatively restore your computer to a restore date that occured before you installed the new firmware/drivers.
