This can be a result of a stuck button on the TV or remote. Remove the the batteries from the remote to prevent a signal from it being sent. Operate all the buttons on the TV one at a time in an attempt to "un-stick" any stuck button(s).
Press the power button on the TV to see if it will turn on. If it does not, check for an open fuse or tripped circuit breaker. Check for the presence of power at the outlet by connecting a table lamp or other electric device. If power is off, see if a wall switch is off somewhere - as it is not uncommon for a switch to control 1/2 of an outlet.
Make sure the power cord is connected at the TV set. Many power cords are completely removable and the end the connects to the TV may have been loosened or fallen out. Visually check the length of the cord to make sure it has not been damaged or cut. Do not use you hand to feel for damage unless the cord has been unplugged from the outlet first.
Unfortunately, if you're unable to turn the TV on; it will probably need to be serviced professionally. There are typically no user serviceable parts inside the TV itself. If your TV has a fuse holder on the outside of the TV, you should unplug the TV and remove the fuse for replacement if found to be open or blown.
Lastly, operate all the buttons on the remote - again to un-stick any button. Return the batteries to the remote when done. If your remote has a lamp to indicate when a button is pressed, check to see if it is on with fresh batteries. Old batteries may not show the lamp being on, but still allow the remote to send a signal.
try another power cable (usually these tvs use the same power cords as a number of other electronics, such as desktop computers, etc) - if that doesn't work, try another power outlet - Also, try powering the tv on with the power cord out - this clears the static electricity off the system board, and helps w/ power issues sometimes - if still no power, then you can contact Wal Mart's customer service (since iLo is their in-house brand) @ 1-800-925-6278 to see if it's still under warranty or if they can put you in touch w/ an onsite technician.
Hey try unplugging your television and taking the batteries out of the remote control.. Wait about 5 minutes and try it then! Did that help? If not, your remote control code be broken or it could be your television, but most likely the remote, so I would recommend purchasing a new replacement remote control from a site like http://www.remotecontrolscenter.com instead of buying a universal remote control that you'll have to spend hours trying to program to work with your tv, instead the replacement remote will be an exact replacement for that broken remote control. Hope that helps!
I just used the following instructions from this site on my 'totally dead' Ilo remote and it worked like a charm! I did step 2 twice on each key and put the batteries back in and it worked great! Hope this helps you too.
"Dead" Remotes Can Be Saved
How to Re-Start Your "Dead" Remote Control
This only takes about a minute and will restart 1 in 3 "Dead" Original Remote Controls. Good Luck!
Step 1- Pull the batteries out of the remote and leave them out until Step 4.
Step 2- Press and release each and every button one at a time on the remote control until every button has been pressed and released at least once!
Step 3- If your remote has slide switches, you must move the switch to each position then repeat the button pushing in Step 2.
(When you're done, be sure to put the slide switch in the correct position to operate the unit the remote came with!)
Step 4- Put the batteries back into the remote, being very careful to install them correctly.
New batteries should be used if you're not sure about the old ones.
Step 5- Try the remote.
If it works, Great!
If not, it's time to call 1-800-Remotes or use this website to order a new remote.
