Question about Computers & Internet
Hi .. im trying to fix my friends PC but feel ive come to a dead end
The Pc is a Packard Bell iXtreme 8540 / X8540
CPU Intel® Core 2 Quad Q6600
Motherboard Diego FX (Foxconn MCP73M04P8)
Memory 3GB DDR2 PC2-5300 (2048MB +1024 MB)
Hard Drive 750GB SATA hard drive
CD/DVD Drive Dual layer DVD±RW
Floppy Drive Packard Bell® Flash Memory Card Drive (15 in 1)
Graphics Card nVidia® GeForce 9500 GS 512MB PCI-Express
Sound Card Realtek ALC888 integrated soundcard
Network Card RealTek 8100CL (onboard - RTL8139)
when power turned on the PSU, Graphics card, and CPU fans start, the CD/DVD drive seems to make a noise and start ok , however im not sure about the hdd starting up .. and the monitor only displays signal cable not connected,
i have tried re-seting the CMOS, and also checked the battery is ok with a multimeter, re-seating the RAMM and graphics card, i have tried a new graphics card too but i still get the same message on the monitor, i have a feeling its the motherboard thats got the problem, even though the fans all power up and the built in firewire port has power to it ( i can still charge my ipod from there ), the motherboard makes no Beep sound from the onboard speaker when turned on, the built in ethernet port lights do not light up when a cable is plugged in to the internet .. im not sure if this would actually give any signal or at what point they do light up but i tried it anyway, .. the only other thing i can think of that has a problem is the CPU .. i dont believe the board is shorting out from contact with the case as its problem only occured two days after my friend reinstalled some drivers on his computer and installed a new game after he had been using it for two years without a fuss
so .. does anyone know where i can get the manual for this motherboard as packard bells support pages on their website are about as much use as a chocolate teapot
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
