Your problem is related to two issues,
1. Print Head problem 2. Waste Ink Tank full.
Let's start with the manual cleaning, remove all the cartridges, switch off the printer and leave Off after disconnecting the usb cable and the power cord. Clean all the print heads and contact points of the cartridges. Also clean the contact points on the printer. You can use a soft brush or piece of cotton ball dipped in acetone/spirit/alcohol, and wipe the print heads gently, you need to be careful otherwise you may damage them. Do the same with the contact points.
Now check the waste ink tank, you can just open the top cover and look, wrap a small piece of cloth on the tip of a screwdriver of and clean it. (do as you please, if you can clean it, that's enough). Even if you can't put the screwdriver inside, just clean the area, that'll be helpful [if you know how to open the waste ink tank, that's very much better].

Now reconnect the power cord, {switch On the adapter from the Mains}, press the Resume Button and the Power button, keep holding for few seconds and release the Resume Button [don't release the power button], again press the Resume Button twice and then release both the buttons. You'll see the Green Light blinks and right after green light stops blinking, press the Resume button several times. Again press the Power button, and now you can power it On normally, and right after it's On, install the cartridges and check the outcome.. Hopefully it works....

If in case this doesn't fix, you need to change the print head or replace the cartridges, if you have another spares, that'll be very much helpful, try installing them. Definitely your problem will be fixed.

I hope the first trick will do the game, and I wish you good luck.

If you have problem, please let me know.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Hello,

the problem is from the print head. The print head is the reason its flashing 5 times.

Remove the printer head from the printer, clean it and fix it back into it. This should fix the problem

But, if that doesn't solve the problem, let me know. Basically, the fault is from the print head, this problem is common with cannon i9900.

Good luck.

    Hello.

pop out the print head, and clean it with alcohol . Force in some alcohol through the nozzles. Submerse it in warm
water for five minutes, blot it dry and use some q-tips to dry
around the nozzles. Let it sit for ten minutes or so to be sure it is dry, and then pop it back in the printer and make sure your cartridge is well fixed.

You should as well do a deep cleaning. Then I print a test page.

If the problem is not still solved, then you will have to replace your canon i9900 print head. Once print head is replaced, problem would be solved.

    Good luck.

Turn off the printer and pull ink cartrdiges from it.
Make sure there is not any paper jam all small paper pieces inside the printer and ink cartridges are fine.
TRy with another ink cartrdiges if you have.

Pixma i9900 orange light flashes 5 times

hi guys,
Flash in orange 5 times indicates that the printhead is faulty so that the printer cannot detect the printhead. Rarely, faulty logic board and carriage unit may cause the same problem.

Dear Bill,
Flashing 5 times in orange indicates that print head error occurs so it cannot be detected properly by the printer. To make it sure, install a good print head in the printer. Is the problem fixed?. If the problem still persist, carriage part may be faulty. Overall, the print head is the most faulty part in this case. So, you need to replace the print head with new one.

New logic board installed cant install driver

After installing a new i9900 logic board, you *must* configure the destination country setting. The default setting is probably for Japan (PIXUS 9900i):

1. With the printer powered off, hold down the resume button and press the power button.

2. While holding down the power button, release the resume button and press the resume button two times. Now release the power button. The LED will blink green and remain lit in green. You are now in Service Mode.

3. Press the resume button 5 times to get to Model Setting mode. The LED will turn orange. Then press the resume button two times to set the model number to i9900 (LTR). Press the power button once to lock in this setting and turn off the printer.
