Question about VeriFone VX510

I have a vx510 and had the same problem. A storm came through last night, and this morning when I ran the first card, I had the same TCP 1009 error. I always start with the simple solution first. I unplugged the ethernet and power lines, waited a few seconds, then plugged the ethernet line in, and then the power. It worked fine after that.

You would need a digital to analog converter. These can be bought almost anywhere. Another option is to ask your phone company to install a dedicated analog phone line for your credit card terminal. These are the only options or going with a IP terminal.

I think there might be a problem of DHCP (Dynamic host configuration protocol). Check your DHCP connection. You are getting network error message while you process credit card. A network error might prevent the DHCP client from sending messages to the DHCP server.

It is somewhat problematic to have a dial up terminal on a digital line. You will get as many opinions as the number of people you ask, but my recent experience with these situations is this: First, you should get with your digital phone service provider and make it clear to them that you are having trouble that did not occur before switching to them, and that they must assist in resolving the issue for it to be possible for them to retain your continued business. Tell them you require that line to be set up as "a fax line that holds the connection for an extended period" . 2 points-FAX line & EXTENDED PERIOD. I don't know what it is, but that's what we had to have done to ours to work. And it does-every day I download, test and verify dial up functionality on Hypercoms, Verifone Tranz and Vx---, FD---, Nurit, Dejavoo you name it. Every day. So-it can be done, but you have to get it set up correctly.
