Generic replacement CD player belts can be found here for $1.20 each, $5 minimum order + $5 shipping. Best prices I've found so far. Follow their instructions on this page to measure your old CD player belts, then give yourself a range of belts, add one a little bigger and one a little smaller than what you think you'll need after measuring. Something in your homemade CD player belt replacement kit is bound to work for you.

Where can I find drive belt for rca rs-9150a (opens the cd door)

I have had this unit for a number of years. Can't find the original drive belt so I've been using rubber bands. They work for a while till they dry rot. If you're doing the job yourself, go to a hardware store and get an assortment of rubber O-rings for plumbing. A little tricky to get one on the gears but I put one in a few months ago and so far it's outlasting a rubber band.

Why won't my 3 drawer cd player won't shift or open?

The drawer is operated by a small rubber belt. It's most likely broken or slipped off. You can fix this yourself by looking inside for the belt. If it's broken, just measure the diameter in MM and put "Drive belt XX MM" into Google and it should turn up. You don't have to be spot on with the measurement.

Obtaining a replacement drive belt

1) You can go to the hardware store, and get a rubber O-ring that is slightly smaller than the drive belt.

2) Cut the ring off of a rubber balloon.

3) Here is a website I found in a search that carries various drive belts,

I left the page open to a kit for two reasons.

1) It keeps the Product Details open on the left side, to Drive belts, and keeps the Drive Belt 'tree' open.

2) You may want to give some thought to a kit, (You may not)
The belt usually averages about 95 Cents.
The shipping charge is usually $7.95

It may be more advantageous to buy a kit, with 33 belts of various dimensions for that shipping cost, for one example.

Disk drawer will not open

A small motor turns a belt, which then drives the gear that operates the drawer. Over time this belt stretches or breaks, and the drawer doesn't open. Replacing the belt cures the problem.

I've looked at the couple of belt catalogs I have, and nothing for NAD is listed. You'll need to measure the old belt circumference and thickness. Almost all of these are square belts, usually in the range of 2.5 to 3.5 inches circumference. If you're measuring the old belt, take off 10 to 15% since it has stretched.

A local electronic service shop may have a suitable replacement. Otherwise there are many sources online (MCM Electronics is one I deal with frequently here in the US). In a pinch, you can even use a small rubber band until you find the right replacement.

Hope this has helped. Thanks for using Fixya!

Sony CDP-CX300 How To Replace Drive Belts?

The Sony call center says the two belts are the same size. Supposedly, there is a third belt "under the motor board" but I have not been able to find it. That is the 42x1.2 (4219362601). The two easy ones to replace are 421606101 and only cost 1.95 from Sony.

I accidentally sucked up a string. The brushes stopped rotating and the suction was low. I took the frame off the brushes, and the rubber belt came out. How do I re-attach the belt/fix this problem? It...

You'll need to replace the belt.
On uprights with rubber belts, the belts need to be replaced every 3-6 months due to the fact that since the belts are rubber, they stretch, and once they stretch out they decrease the rotational speed of the brushroll, which results in a lack of agitation.
While this is not a function of the "suction," it still will make it so that your vacuum does not pick up as well. Many manufacturers are betting that you won't replace your belt often enough, so that when you try their new machine, it will pick up better than your old one.

To replace the belt on most uprights of this nature, you'll want to remove the base plate and the brushroll. Place the belt around the motor pulley, which is the metal shaft sticking out of the main motor. Then put the other end of the belt around the brushroll pulley, and pull the brushroll into place.

Replace the baseplate, ensuring that the belt is not pinched between the brushroll and the housing.

Turn the machine on to ensure that the brushroll spins, and you're finished.

Deck turns on but doesn't do anything else. Motor runs.

The main flat belt you describe is probably the capstan belt. The "flywheel" you describe drives the capstan. I don't know the model number of your deck (it would help if you could say what it is), but I'm pretty sure that the flat belt should go around the big flywheel and then around a motor pulley that should be very close to the flywheel. The motor should spin the flywheel even if the play/FF/RW buttons are not engaged. This might sound funny, but the other "O" ring belts might be very important (control motor belts) or not that important at all (tape counter belts)--it depends on the model number of the deck. One more thing: Every healthy capstan belt I've ever seen is NOT sticky and does NOT glom onto itself. That belt sounds like it is very old and needs to be replaced.
