Joanne, when you take the screws out of the handle, and take the handle half off to expose the switch, the black wire from the handle cord goes on the front terminal on the switch that is by itself. The black wire from the power cord will go on the terminal that is facing up as you look down on it. Hope this helps!

I have a Fantom Twister Vaccum whose on-off switch is inoperative

The screw may be from underside of body where switch is and may be the reason for inoperative switch. Or switch is bad, or bad connections, or cord and or cord plug problems.

How do get electrical cord to vacuum replaced?

Look, don't try to do it yourself. This is serious. You need it looked at by an electrician, otherwise it could be very dangerous to use if you attempt to fix it yourself. Honest!

How do I replace switch on Milwaukee 5378-20?

You have to take a paper clip and stick in the hole with the wire. Pull the wire out after the paper clip releases the connector spring in the switch. Do one wire at a time to connect so you can connect the right wires to the new switch properly.

Vacuum does not power on

Check to make sure the front nozzle is on correctly and also the bag base, make sure it is pushed all of the way in. There are safety switchs at these 2 spots and have to be engaged to work. You can't tell by looking at the cord to know that it is ok or not. Use a continuity meter to check that one side on the cord isn't open. Could also be a bad switch, carbon motor brushes not making contact. Armature bad in the motor. So there are several probables for it not working.

Kirby G6 no power

Could be the switch, I would check the cord 1st. It has 2 wires running thru it, one may be open. That power cord goes bad often, if anyone is pulling on the wire rather then the plug, then it would have have stretched and break.

There is a safety switch in the motor area that, if not engaged correctly, can result in your vacuum not running. The most common thing that's wrong is that at the bottom part of the motor, where the cord plugs in, the cord is in between the motor and the plastic holder for the bag and it's not letting the bag click on all the way and so it's not pushing in the safety switch enough for it to turn on. Also, you may want to remove the head and reattch it and make sure it's lined up properly. If none of this works, then you could have a cord problem or your safety switch might be out. These are very fixable problems. Find your nearest vacuum repair shop. A cord should cost no more than 30 dollars and a switch with labor will cost around 80 dollars. If you can't find anyone, contact us at 1-866-509-1952 and we can help.
