I have just bought a Samsung LE -26R82B tv. After adjusting the Picture Standard for Contrast, Brightness, Sharpness and Colour the picture seems to revert to factory settings after about 30 mins. This happens repeatedly for both tv AND dvd CHANNELS. The TV will not save the changed settings

Your TV is in shop mode which can be turned on and off by holding the front panel menu button down for 3 secs.

( Shop Mode is used to reset to default settings after 30 mins. and to not retain settings after power off.)

Changeing the settings, it shouldnt matter if you use the remote or the buttons on the tv, most likely a memory system problem. Im not sure, the tv might have a internal 3v battery to keep the memory alive.

the battery might be bad, but as it revets back to defaults after 30minutes of use? it seems to be a hardware side problem. possibly both (software and hardware)

Il provide you with reset instructions soon.

Plano tv samsung

Adjust the brightness until it starts making the black in the picture slightly milks and back it off slightly
Adjust the contrast so that the whitest whites show detail, too much contrast and they disappear
Adjust colour to suit, start with it half way, look at flesh tones on a news reader as a guide and adjust sharpness so you can see detail but not so that there are false or visible edges around things

What is the correct picture setting for a vizio smart tv model E322AR?

Contrast = 60 to 80%.
Brightness = 40 to 55%
Color = according to personal viewing taste.
Sharpness = 15 to 20%
The best way to tune to a perfect picture is, set the color to Zero first. Without any colour, increase the contrast to at about 65%. Adjust the brightness to get a perfect picture in B/W. Then increase the color, according to your viewing taste. Compare the skin tone of a person. That's all.

I have a grundig GU19WDVD10 tv and the picture mode has got mixed up and the quality is not right. What numbers should the brightness, contast, colour etc be on? Thanks

In most cases, 75% contrast, 40 to 50% brightness and 35 to 45% color will be best. Adjust the picture sharpness control in between 10 and 25%

Sony BRAVIA KDL-40W4000

Hi there,

I've been looking into this myself as I've also recently purchased the KDL-40W4000. I was watching a murky old film and was getting a bit of sludgy ghosting but found that by reducing the contrast to 25, setting the backlight on low, colour on neutral and the brightness about 40-60 (and taking ALL advanced noise functions off), this reduced the ghosting considerably.

BUT, this is quite a cool and dark image. If you watch standard TV and films mainly, a variation of the Cinema setting is probably the best overall setting i.e.

backlight: min
contrast: 79
brightness: 50
colour: 53
colour temp: Warm 2 (although Warm 1 is less yellow and still fine)
sharpness: min
noise reduction: off
mpeg nr: off
contrast enhancer: off
colour space: standard

Samsung tv settings

it depends on what your using it for, adjust colour tones to what you think looks natural, contrast between 80-90, keep sharpness below 30. just have a play around till you find what best suits the source material.

Edge Enhancement Option Disabled...

edge enhancement option i think would be enabled if you are in dynamic or movie mode. What it does is to enhance the contrast of the edges of 2 different colors.

I have the LA32S8, similar specs but only 7000:1 CONTRAST ratio. when playing dvd, i set it to movie mode. Settings vary on different tv and player. you can adjust first the backlight, then brightness then contrast, color and sharpness. the brightness you adjust by choosing the level that shows enough details on dark scenes. adjust if its too dark not to see the details of the scene. contrast, you can set by distiguishing vivid colors of the picture, dont put too much contrast as your picture would look flat. it should have a 3d look, same also with sharpness, you can experiment on the face of a person to show details on the edges.
color you set just enough to make it accurate on color reproduction.

My settings for movie are
contrast 92
brightness 49
sharpness 23
color 57
tint g48 r52
backlight 7
tone warm1
digital NR off
black adjust high
dynamic ocntrast high
gamma +2
edge enhancement on
color space auto

Picture adjustment questions

*The brightness control setting determines how bright your picture will be. *The contrast control sets the gain of the video circuit. This determines the difference between dark and light scenes. Low contrast settings make the picture "hazy". High contrast settings make the picture more distinction between dark and light scenes. *The sharpness control determine the frequency response of the video circiut. High sharpness settings give better resolution but also shows more noise in your picture. Lower sharpness settings smoothe out the picture removing noise but also fine detail. It needs to be set for the best all around picture. *Picture Enhancement is pre-set adjustments which give you different picture qualities. You just select the one you like. Stargazer
