Can i upgrade the processor in my gateway NV57H59u to one with more Ghz

That machine has an I5 in it already. You should have lots of power, You cannot change to i7. Adding RAM is the best option, changing clock speed y overclocking could be an option.

My gateway essential 400 cant run newer programs **** *** window 7... or explorer 8... or flashplayer 10... how can i upgrade my computer 2 make it run these programs ? a new hard drive ? or what do i do...

Hi,

You can add hard drive if your system doesnt have enough space for the new programs. If the new programs installs well but is running slow or not starting, then you will have to upgrade your RAM and for better performance, fix one graphics card suitable for *********** board. If you can spend more, Upgrade *********** board and processor.

Thanks
Sherbaz

Processor upgrade

You have a P4 Processor.... a 3.0 was the fastest. I would not upgrade the processor. You can however upgrade the Motherboard if you can do it yourself. That will take you to a SATA Hard Drive system and allow you to afford some faster RAM and Cheeper RAM.

Another option: get 1 gig of ram, new Hard Drive and Win7. Speed improvement will be double.

I want to upgrade my system from KM266-8235, 1.53 GH processor

Hi, you can do what i always recommend to my customers, install a new industry standard architecture (ISA) motherboard kit which will include a motherboard, processor, memory bundle. This future proofs you pc for at least five years, enables you to upgrade memory and processors on a plug 'n' play basis. fitting a kit is dead easy, with full instructions and what's more you will not lose any data on your hard drive either. Upgrade?

Generally you can add more RAM, However, there are too many details that are needed about your system in order determine if an upgrade can be done.

    Suggest you call Gateway Support.

To upgrade from pentium 3 to P4 you have to change alot of the hardware.

You need a NEW P4 Socket mPGA 475 Motherboard.
    New DDR RAM
    New 478 PIN Processor.

You can use the old CD rom and Hard drive and any other PCI card but You Need the Mentioned Hardware to Upgarde.

Video Editing Do I need to upgrade?

Get a new system... Sorry if this isn't what you want to here but RD-ram is stupidly expensive. 512mb of RD-ram is usually a few hundred dollars and hard to find. Since you have RD-ram that means you also have a Pentium 4 processor, probably in the range of 1.2 -1.8 Ghz

Vegas is a great video editing program but it needs way more than speed that that to render a video (in a decent amount of time. it will render on a slower processor, it will just take forever!). You will be much happier of the results if you just replace the computer rather than try to upgrade it.
