Question about Dell Latitude D505 Notebook
I cannot assume your question, whether you like to enable fn key or disable it or etc...
If you want to enable it, just press it once and release. That'll disable or enable the fn key. If it's disabled, will enable it, if it's enabled, will disable it. In case you don't see any effect with the function key, try another trick, like Fn+Numlock, press these two keys at the same time and release, will take the same effect and will disable or enable it.
If this isn't the solution you are looking for, please let me know with the details of your question so that I can assist you better. There are several settings with Windows vista and Windows 7 on Dell computers, you can do it from the Bios or you can also do it from the Control Panel. It'll be of better help if you will be able to let me know the Operating System installed on your system.
Thank for using FixYa.
