Question about Maytag Refrigerators
My Maytag side by side MSD2758DRW ice maker no longer makes ice. The arm was having trouble "pushing" the cubes out awhile back, so I disconnected the icemaker power coupling. I tried plugging it back in to do some troubleshooting, and the arm just keeps going around and around. No water comes to fill the tray. The water dispenser in the door works fine. Any ideas?
If the ice maker no longer make ice, check the following.
Check to see whether the ice maker has been turned off. Here's how to check. Look for a wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If this wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. On some units you simply lower the wire to the down position to turn the ice maker on.
On others, you lower a small red plastic lever to lower the wire. If the wire is in the proper position check the freezer temperature, it should be between 0-8 degrees Fahranheit. If it is warmer than 10-12 degrees, the ice maker may not produce any ice.
Check your door seals and thermostat, repair/replace as necessary.

First thing to do is check that your ice maker fill tube in the back of your refrigerator is not frozen. The fill tube will freeze frozen solid and stop the water flow to the ice maker. Use a blow dryer (hair dryer) to melt the ice from the tube. The fill tube can also continue to freeze up from a leaky water inlet valve. Click on the link below to read more:

If the water dispenser works fine, but there's no water comes in to fill the tray, then I could say that there is NO problem with the water valve and the solenoid. You have to check the water supply line from the valve to the ice maker. Be sure that the water supply line is not kinked behind or beneath the refrigerator (1/4-inch copper tubing is much better than plastic fill line).
There's a possibility that the water supply line freeze up. And the line is clog, that's why there's no water coming in to the ice maker.
Try to defrost the fridge, locate the water supply line going to the ice maker. Use a hair blower and try to heat up the tube. This will melt the ice that's in the tube.
Thank you and good luck!
