I know someone burnt the harddrive when the laptop got too hot.
You may want to raise it with a few bottle caps. Also clean the fan by vacuuming helps.

Well I can tell you that in my experience they get real hot too hot in my opinion, however, these days the laptops seem to emit an enormous amount of heat, but it seems to do NO harm, If you are worried get yourself a laptop Cooling Pad, they are cheap, they work, and will keep your unit cooler.

Why isMy Acer aspire gettting really hot, would replacing the battery help?

Sometimes, the computer gets really hot because the "ventilation" (cooling) system (fan, etc.) is not working properly. Normally, if it gets too hot, i.e. to an unacceptable level, the system will shut down. Or, it will catch on fire.
Yes, it's known that some battery will get too hot ... and potentially damage the system. So, if you already know that the cooling system is working properly, then try replacing the battery.

2000 NISSAN 4X4 P/U A/C SYSTEM WILL BLOW COLD WHEN OUTSIDE AIR TEMP IS COOL, WHEN HOT OUTSIDE AIR BLOWS HOT.

your auxillary fan is not working. this fan is responsible for cooling the freon that is being circulated in your cooling system... check if there are any loose wires in front of the engine bay.

the auxillary fan is located right beside your radiator fan.

Everytime my charger is plugged in, my laptop decides to turn off. It gets really hot underneath. Do you think i'll need a new fan?

Check the vents. Quite often it's a build up of dust on the fan and surrounding area.
Give it a good blow out and see if that helps

Laptop gets hot then crashes or runs really slow

Try blowing compressed air in the fan vent, if this persists, purchase a laptop cooling pad, which basically sits under your laptop and has two small fans that run to provide better ventilation underneath the laptop.

I have a laptop, Compaq presario CQ50, when using it after one hour it gets hot and goes off, please what is the problem

Two possibilities:
* the inside of the computer is covered with a layer of dust, which acts as insulation, preventing the computer's fans from cooling it.
When it gets "too hot", it shuts itself down.

* the fans inside the computer have failed (bearings seized?)
and no longer are pushing cool air through the laptop.

Turn the computer off.
Disconnect the AC power.
Remove the battery.
Purchase a can of compressed-air, and give your computer a "blow-job" through every vent and intake/exhaust areas, to try to remove the dust.

Overheats and freezes

Turn the computer off.
Disconnect the AC power.
Remove the battery.
Buy a can of compressed-air.
Give the computer a "blow-job", because dust inside the computer is working as a layer of insulation, i.e., not allowing your computer's fans to cool itself.

The fan is constantly running and part of the laptop gets really hot

Check the vent where the fan should be blowing out hot/warm air for good flow. If you don't have any air flowing, you might find that the fan inlets are plugged with dust, or the fan blades are covered with dust/fuzz. Clean all the air passages, inlets and outlets to make sure the fan can flow enough air to cool the computer.

Laptop overheats way too fast...

What is the model number of your machine? Some have design flaws that make them run hot. Also dust is a great insulator. I would take the machine into a repair shop or get a can of compressed air and blow out any fan areas. A laptop cooling pad can be a good idea as well especially if you notice that the machine overheats while sitting on a desk. The noise of the fan is probalay due to the dust coating the heatsync. The fan has to run much faster to move more air to cool the system. Blowing out or having the heatsync cleaned is a good idea here!
