Question about Epson Stylus Photo R300 InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Get message on my Epson R300: service required parts inside printer are at the end of their service life. I tried pressing stop and maintenance together for over 30 seconds but that did not help. How can I bypass the error and/or get printer started?

Are you sure there's no problem with the cartridges physically? Is so, then you simply need to reset you printer. This happens when the printer detects problem with cartridges, like low ink, dead cartridge, etc. and sometimes replacing isn't helpful when the sensor becomes faulty.

Turn of the printer by disconnecting the power cord from the machine. Again reconnect it after few minutes and follow the instructions;
Press the "Stop" + "Maintenance" + "Power" buttons simultaneously for about 30 seconds. You need to hold down the three keys while you press them. Maintenance key is sometimes also the "Black and White"/"B and W" button.

If you have problem doing this or if the problem persists, let me know with the details, but I don't believe that it'll not work for you. If you do as I say, you'll definitely fix it.

Good luck.

Thanks for using FixYa.

Epson Stylus Photo R300 My printer has stop

Hi,

I apologize for a delayed response as i was not at my desk.

I am sorry to hear regarding the problem.Unfortunately, this is a common problem on this printer. There is only one reset procedure that might work. Press and hold the ' Stop ', 'Maintenance ' and ' Power ' buttons for about 10 seconds. Then turn the printer off, and back on.

Note - You still need to get the ink absorber changed.

The repair is not economical as Epson would charge anywhere between $100 - $300 for repair. You could look for the below procedure to DIY :

Let me know,if needed further assistance.

Hope i helped you.

Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!

Service required error

Ok.. aside from the fact that you've posted under the R300 Epson model thread you're still in luck.

The CX6600 has been documented (by me admittedly) with a complete guide to fitting an external tank and resetting the waste ink counter in the printer.

Just to note: This is a commercial site but the information provided is generic and will help you fix the problem.

Error - printer part are at the end of service life, see printing

I have had a R300 for a while now and had a few cartridges in it. Recently a message came up on the screen 'parts inside your printer are at the end of their life' and the printer refused to work!
After searching the web it appears to be a waste ink counter, but I could not find any info on resetting it.
So I tried pressing different combinations of buttons on the printer and success.

Press and hold 'stop' 'maintenance' and 'power' buttons for about 10 seconds, a message will come on the screen saying counter is reset and to turn off.

Thats it turned my printer back on and all works fine again.

I hope this helps R300 owners out!

Service life has ended on my epson stylus r320 photo printer

Thanks for your selflessness Steve H. describing the RESET procedure for the Epson R300 by simutaneouly depressing the POWER, STOP and MAINTENANCE switches.

I checked with Epson, via telephone, and they recommended going to an authorized dealer for ink pad replacement (approximately $100) or buy a new printer ( $150 - $250).

After completing your suggested RESET procedure successfully - I went a step further and mopped up the excess ink that was evident on the 'black ink pad' which was saturated with black ink. I used Kleenex which seemed to mop up the excess BLACK ink nicely, and continued this mopping procedure until there was no evidence of black ink on the Kleenex. There was very little evidence of spilled ink on the color pads.

Time alone will tell. So thanks again Steve - you saved me $100 to $200.

Oh yeah! I LOVE this printer.

Error message "Parts have reached their life end"

Thanks for the suggestion. The problem has been solved by pressing the 'power', 'stop' and 'maintenance' buttons simultaneously for about ten seconds. It makes a terrible noise for a couple of seconds (like gears grinding) but it resets the printer. Apparently this is a ploy by Epson when genuine Epson inks aren't used, to encourage you to get your printer serviced!! At a cost of course.

Service repair printer

There is a counter inside the printer, which counts the amount of use the printer has done. When this counter reaches a preset limit, it shuts the printer down and displays the message you have mentioned. There is a reset program on the net to reset this counter and enable the printer to work again. I cant remember the name of the program, but I'm sure you will find it, if you google r300 reset.
