If You really can't read anything on the screen this wont help. If you can make out a bit, then right click on a vacant area of your screen, then select "properties". On the Display Properties Menu, select "Settings", then select "Advanced". This will bring up a menu that shows your Monitor and Display Driver info. Select "Display", then select "Properties", then select "Driver", then select "Roll Back Driver". This will restore the old driver for the Display. If this doesn't help, go through the same menus again, and on the "Monitor and Display" menu select "Adapter" instead of "Monitor", and roll back that driver.
Best of Luck

It sounds defective. When the high voltage power units stop working; you will experience this type of problem. I would call AOC and see if the monitor is under warranty. Otherwise, seek an alternative monitor to use.

Hook up that monitor to another laptop or computer. If it works then its an issue with the vga port on your laptop. If the monitor still shows those lines then you know for sure the monitor is bad and it will have to be replaced.
